Tropically Detailed: Full correction on black Ranger Rover Supercharged (46 pics)

Another fun detail on another Ranger Rover. This one was absolutely gorgeous, being black on ivory interior. It need a fair amount of correction to achieve its maximum gloss, but thats the fun part. Once again, not only did I get to work on one of my dream vehicles, but more importantly, I had the pleasure of working for absolutely great client. I cant' say how much fun this job is when you contastly get to work for the nicest, most welcoming people.

Process:

Wash with Meguiars Hyperwash, 2 bucket/P21s Gel on rims/Megs APC on tires
Clay with Zaino Z18 using Megs #34 as lube
Polish with
Menzerna IP @ 1500 rpm/LC 7 1/2 inch Orange CCS pad/Hitachi Rotary x 2-3
Menzerna FPII @ 1200-1000/LC 7 1/2inch White CCS pad/Hitachi Rorary x 1
Wash with Zaino Z7
HD Cleanse
Zymol Concours by hand
Zaino AIO on rims/glass/trim
Zaino Z16 on tires/running boards
Neverdull on exhaust tips

Vacuum
Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer wipes to wipe down surfaces
Zaino Z9/Z10 to clean/condition the expansive leather
Zaino AIO followed by Z2pro on painted piano black interior pieces
Meguiars Natural Shine on black dash pieces
Meguiars NXT window cleaner on interior windowns

Okay lets start with the pics..

Starting at 6:45 AM, I washed the car first then started on the interior.

I took a lot of after pictures, as I absolutely love the design of the Range Rover's interior plus I couldn't get enough of the Ivory and Black coloring. It was stunning, IMO.

I then pulled the RR into the garage to be corrected.

Passenger's side door before

After

50/50 between front and rear passenger doors

Rear passenger side door from a distance

Zoomed in section of the same door

After IP on an orange

After FPII on a white

Before on rear passenger side QP/Fender. The marring was deeper hear and required a bit more RPM and a few more passes to clean up.

After one pass of IP, the deeper stuff is still behind..

After two more passes of IP.

Driver's side front fender (done) and driver door

I backed out of the garage to wash it with Z7 to remove the majority of polishing oils from the Menzerna

After I washed it, I captured some quick sun shots of the hood. Unfortunately, there was a little streaking from the wiping the car down in the sun, which kind of ruined the pictures, IMO, but atleast you can see the perfeclty swirl free finish in the sun...

I finished up the detail by pulling the RR back in garage and applying HD cleanse then Zymol Concours by hand. After tidying up the details (tires/glass/exhaust/ect) I pulled the RR back out and snapped some photos. Of course, the clouds had rolled in by now

Amazing job! That first shot of the hood is stupidly ridiculously good lookin'!

I personally don't Range Rover body style. But that interior is immaculate!

Amazing job as always!

EDIT: 5th and 6th page from the bottom which is 2 of the same picture. The top one is brighter? Was the sun shiny more on the interior as the seats look brighter in the 1st than the 2nd?

in the beginning you said u used concours

but in the pics you said vintage

which one was used?

BTW why does there appear to be a haze left in the paint after polishing? Was that just your camera wigging out?

Quoted right before the pics before he pulled it out into full sun.

or were you talking about the pics still in the garage after he was wiping off IP/FPII?

Thanks for the compliments. The 5th and 6th from the bottom are different pictures, if you look closely, the second one (5th from the bottom) is slighting higher up and further away. I don't remember changing the apendature on the camera, so it must be the way the light enters at the angle or the lighting may have changed slightly (the sun was in and out of the clouds...

Nice pick up on the vintage-concours screwup. I was reading the vintage thread and had a brain-fart. It was concours. I will edit it.

There was no haze on the paint after polishing, I think it just a condition of the brightness of the halogens washing out the paint, which could only be seen in the paint. I probably could/should have quckened the shutter speed to block it out, but I left it open (as needed to capture the defects) because I didn't want to change the camera settings. This way you get a truer before and after, even if the paint looks a little hazy in the pictures. Heck, with that brightness, you know there are no defects left behind

Superb work Todd! That is one bad azz machine. You made the paint perfect! Love the write ups and the correction pics. That was really swirled up badly.

Extraordinary work. I've never been up close and personal with the interior of this ride, and i must say it is beautiful. The corrections you made to this vehicle is once again top notch.

Thanks Mr.Ikon. The interiors are perfect, IMO. Still truck like, but very luxurious

Looks absolutely amazing Todd! I find Rover paint really easy to work with. What are your thoughts? Definitely a lot of area to cover.

So how do you like Concours compared to Zaino? Great work!
