Tropically Detailed: '98 Jag XK something (20 pics)
This car is one of several I have detailed for an upcomming Jaguar concours show this weekend. It has 80,000 miles and was in great shape, the owner wanted it to "look new" I told him I could do one better and make it nicer then new.
Nothing needed to be done interior or engine wise, and the car was clean to begin with so it was a quick detail...
Wash with Zaino Z7, clay with Zaino Z18 using Z7 lube
Polish with Menzerna SIP on a white pad for 1-2 passes at 1500 rpm
Alcohol wipedown
Rewash with Zaino Z7, scrub top with Meguiars APC 10:1
Raggtopp on the top
Stoners IG on glass
Zaino AIO followed by Z2pro on rims
Zaino Z16 on tires
Meguiars NXT Metal Polysh on exhaust and brightwork
Zaino Z5pro x 2 (ZFX'd)
Zaino Z2pro
Zaino Z-CS
Zaino AIO via PC/orange pad on headlights/taillights
The car was in good condition considering the mileage with light to moderate swirls. The color and brightness (as well as my questionable camera skills) gave me a little trouble capturing the swirls.
This picture was supposed to be a 50/50 with the top of the picture corrected. Unforutnatly it doesn't do much justice . I figured I would capture more afters when I was done, but of course, when I finished up and delivered the car, it was threatening to rain and heavily overcast. Oh well
I clicked off two pictures from the same angle on the tripod. One was with the garage door closed and second was with the garage door open. I figured it shows how electric and gorgeous the Jag looked under different lighting with the Zaino on top.
Also notice my son's Escalade in the foreground (powerwheels style)
A couple after shots from when I delievered the car. I apologize for the exposure on a lot of the photos. The sky was overcast and breaking apart, so the lighting kept changing and I was playing catch up with the shutter speed. Sorry!

Re: Tropically Detailed: '98 Jag XK something (20 pics)
Love that color! Awesome wetness and shine! Outstanding work Todd! It looks better than new! The plate say's it all. Todd i got your PM but i can't return one to you, i'm only off on sundays. I had a new Bentley to do and the guy instead took it to the damm car wash for 49.00 bucks and call me to cancel our appt. this sunday. and i said if he wanted it to look it's best than call me. One more thing I didn't know you had a little boy (you never told me), maybe I'll meet the little one someday. Thanks......Angelo

I want a Jag like the one Austin Powers had! But that one will do for now. Great job - extremely sharp car.

Beautiful work....This pic and tag pretty much sums it up. The cloud reflections are unreal.

You do realize they look that good because he adjusts his pictures to look better right?
Watch, I will so the same...
Here we see a nice detailed red finish rom a fellow autopian
Lookin great right? Now lets make those clouds really pop!
Wow I just applied a fresh coat of royale on that... In photoshop... Notice how dark the certain shadows are in the jag picture with no detail while at the same time the very bright whites are blown out, its a sign that someone has raised the contrast of the image to enhance reflections.
EX: the car in the distance, look at the wheel and tire how dark it is with no shadow detail but at the same time the top of the roof on the jag is so bright there is no hilight detail. This means the contrast was jacked up. Now seeing original, un-shopped pics would be great...
Just for the heck of it, 2nd example.
Turns into
In the 2nd image I tried to make it more subtle.
Now I'm not saying that the car was poorly detailed, I am sure the detail was awesome, but the images you see have been enhanced.

WOW I never knew you could do that, I would imagine ALOT of people do that around here
This makes seeing diff LSPs pretty useless because peopl can play with the pic to make them look better. I mean look at the diff in that BMW.

I have detailed many cars with people on this board, and I am sure they will chime in that my cars look better then my pictures on this thread.
You are making a ******** claim, consdering that I already apologized for the contrast issues in the picture because of my camera settings. Your post is borderline slander IMO, I am brutally honest on this forum, have always owned up for myself, and I am telling you that contrast HAS NOT been altered in ANY one of those pictures. However, I did try to DARKEN a couple photos as I had the shutter time open to long and IT washed out the photos.
Before you make accusations, you better know what you are talking about. Attacking my integrity is fine, but please understand that there are plenty of people on this board who have seen my work in person. Also, I guess the Corvette's that I have detailed that won "Best of Show" at ECKLER's where photoshopped infront of the 30 or so judges who all admitted they had never seen a car shine like that.
Or the concours show one of my Ferraris won. You have constantly (this is the third time) you have jumped on my thread to talk crap about me, and I have your little PM's begging me not to be mad because you don't want people not to like you. Should I post those?
Other than trying to falsely discredit me, I am curious as to the point of your post?

Actually this is completely false. This a condition when you try to capture a dark object in a very bright enviroment, and you have the lense angle opened wide. You should know this before you say false things because your mom gave you permission to use your computer. The camera's white balance was thrown off because of this.
I tried to lower the darkness of the photos because they where so washed out.

No actually the car was detailed to perfection and is glowing, and tomarrow when it destroys everbody in its class (as my cars seem to do, I will make the judges take off their "photoshopped" glasses, I will post a picture of the car with the trophy and you can go back to your misguided attempts at discrediting me.

I seen Todd's work and they always look like in the pic's he post on this forum. He's probably one of the best in the state of Florida and all his customers rides show it. One has to see it in person and all you be doing is

What a bum deal Angelo, sorry to hear it. Yeah, I have a three year old (I actually detailed his car seat yesterday, its a sickness). We will try to hook up next time I am in Tampa if you would like hang out/help/whatever while I detail a several hundred thousand dollar Ferrari for the Cavillino show (imagine if one of my cars wins the most prestigous Ferrari show, I hope I have my photoshop glasses for the judges!).

Thanks, I perfer the new XKR, such as the one in this photo (that the owner took and pasted... man I hope he doesn't use photoshop as well!!!!!!!!!!!)
Or maybe I'll ask him to jump on here and describe what his car looks like in person (he is a member).

Great detail Todd, I don't like a lot of Jags, this ones thumbs up in my book.
The wheels look fresh out of the box.

Thanks VA. He is not really attacking me, he has not matured to the point of realizing why he does stuff, he just does it. The truth is (using his standard of evidence) that his mom left the credit card out last night and he ordered photoshop. Now that he can play with it, he feels he is an authority on the subject. And since he has made it a point to attack sealants in the past, he is just looking for a reason to hate. Wait till his mom finds the CC bill, then Ron won't be able to log on for a couple months until his grounding is up.
Soon he will be jumping on Chris (01blueCLS)'s threads to complain that its not fair because Chris uses an 800 dollar camera (so the pictures look better) and Santa only brought him a Kodak
