RX330, Z06, Cayman S

2004 Lexus RX330. I used Opti-Seal on it last month but forgot to get pics. Just did an ONR wash prior to taking these two shots.

2006 Chevy Corvette Z06. I finally got a few outside shots! I deep polished it about 4 months ago and topped it with Opti-Seal and again used Opti-Seal on it two months ago. This time I decided to try Ultima Paint Guard Plus. Not a huge improvement but it did seem to add some depth.

2007 Porsche Cayman S. First Cayman I have done. Absolutely beautiful car!

The owner just bought the car from someone in the Chicago area about 10 days ago and drove it back down here. After I had washed it, he mentioned this was the first time he actually had seen the car clean! The previous owner had the car detailed before selling it and whoever did the work left a lot of wax residue all over the car. Took me a good 20-30 minutes to do the extra clean-up from that. Overall, the paint was in decent shape. Some light halo swirling and some buffer hazing too, mostly along the creases in the body work. The owner was very concerned about me using a buffer on it and asked me to go easy with it. That didn't allow me to achieve maximum defect removal but I was able to make a significant improvement. He had me show him the proper way to wash a car with Optimum No Rinse so he can maintain the finish without adding additional swirls. That way, I can keep hitting it with a mild polish 3-4 times a year and continue to improve and refine the finish instead of simply bringing it back each time.

I went with Clearkote's Pink Moose (50/50 blend of VM and RMG) using a green Sonus polishing pad, waxed with Carnauba Moose and buffed off the excess with a 50/50 blend of Optimum Car Wax and Werkstatt's Carnauba Jett.

Hazy sunshine and concrete, so I underexposed the pictures by 1 stop. It definitely helped reduce the contrast but I probably could have gone another half to a full stop.

Oh yeah, did I mention this car is freakin' beautiful?

Not perfect, but pretty good for a mild polish and pad combination.

Nice work!

Did you dress the window trim on the cayman? If so, what do you use?

Thanks!

Great work Scott. I'm impressed how much defect removal you achieve on all cars with such a mild polish combo, and on any finish!

Re: RX330, Z06, Cayman S

Lovely detail on that Cayman S scottwax! Im getting one soon (also solid black) but im still not sure what polish/pad combo to use.. was the clear as soft as other porsches you've detailed?

Here is what i have: PC, LC CCS Pads (4 inch and 6.5 inch), Menz 106FF and SIP, RMG, and Victoria Lite Cleanse.

Thank you

Re: RX330, Z06, Cayman S

Hey Scott I'm doing a cayman S with my partner soon and I was wondering what the clear hardness was like.
TIA,
Josh
