Tropically Detailed: Ferrari 360CS, Maserati Q-porte, Lexus, MB SL500, WS6 Trans Am

These are all basic details (little to no machine correction) so I was able to focus on the details, so to speak. No really befores (minus the Firebird which turned out to be the worst correction/hardest correction I have EVER done, but the camera died so I didn't process the turnaround).

First up is the 360 Challange Stradale I did on my last trip down South (couple weeks ago). This one is probably pretty familar with the board as I have posted it before, but this time we added an additonal 3 coats of Zaino and did a full detail on the interior, plus we took off the wheels and detailed the suspension/brakes, inside of the rims, ect...

The first picture is the of the carbon ceramic braking system after being hosed off. Of note, the wheel bolts are made of titanium and cost about 100 dollars apiece, the rotars are carbon ceramic and around 6k a piece, and the rear parking brake is manufactored by Brembo!

Foamed up and ready to go (Z7 wash)

Interior carbon fiber was treated to two coats of Z2pro (ZFX'd)

Next up was the Maserati. The exterior was very well mantained and topped with Clear Seal and Z8. The interior carbon fiber was given a coat of Zaino AIO topped by Z2pro. The interior leather (pretty much the whole interior) was cleaned with Z9 and conditioned with Z10. Tires where Z16, rims have AIO.

Re: Tropically Detailed: Ferrari 360CS, Maserati Q-porte, Lexus, MB SL500, WS6 Trans Am

The Lexus GS300 belongs to a forum member and the car is CHERRY for its age. The interior was treated to Leatherqiue (by the owner) and Zymol dressing. I shampooed the carpets. On the outside, the tires where dressed with Zaino, with AIO going on the rims/glass. The car was clayed and given 2 coats of Z2pro (ZFX'd) with CS on top.

I did this SL500, and did everything I could think of minus polishing. The exterior was clayed, 2 coats of Z2pro, CS on everything (all trim, glass, rims, ect). The tires recieved two coats of Z16. The exhaust was hand polished with PG, the followed by Meg's NXT Metal Polish.

I spend almost an hour on the steering wheel itself as it was loaded with grim, as well as another hour shampooing the carpet and cleaning all the leather surfaces. This car came out better than new. I was really impressed with the rims which recieved the same Zaino as the rest of the car, and looked liquid wet!!!

Re: Tropically Detailed: Ferrari 360CS, Maserati Q-porte, Lexus, MB SL500, WS6 Trans Am

Last up was the Firebird WS-6 which was the worst car I have ever detailed. It had water etchings so deep that I had to wetsand the paint with 1000 grit to remove them, then work up to 3000 grit, before cutting with a twisted wool pad at 2500-3000 rpm for 4-5 passes to remove th sanding marks and bring the gloss back. It was finished with SIP/Orange then 106ff/White.

2 coats of Z5pro on the paint followed by CS and a Z8 wipedown. I actually stayed up all night working on this one. In the sun shots, you can see it came out perfect minus the little white dimples, which some GM paints had in 99-02. This car went from trashed to flawless and I didn't capature much of the transformation

Process

clayed for over an hour with Meg's AGGRESIVE clay
wetsanded from belt line up with 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 grits
PG x 4-5 times with a Shelgal 100 percent twisted wool at 2000-3000 RPM!!!!
SIP x 2 times with a LC Orange pad @ 2000 rpm
106ff x 1 time with a LC white pad @ 1500
Prepsol wipedown
Z7 wash
Z5pro (ZFXd) x 2
ZCS

From this

and this...

Thanks, yes they are Brembo brakes that came of a Porsche Carrera S, it also features about a 400 rwhp engine and upgraded suspension.

Awesome work! The Wheels/Brakes were done with P21S right? I'm guessing with the newer systems like that you need a non abrasive & safe formula. (No Silicone etc)

Not bad I guess.........Just kidding , you really do great work, they all look incredible.
Rims on that Maserati are sweet.
The turn around on the TA is awesome. Can't believe you took it as far as you did, great work ethic Todd. Dedication like that says a lot.

That T/A looked pretty trashed, and now.... wow... just amazing, especially considering the process. They all look awesome.

How did you do in between the air dams on the hood with the rotary? I need to learn to those tight spots!

All the maintenance details look great (nice selection of cars too!) but that F-Bird...

Based on this thread and what I saw in the other thread you made about it, what you did to that car is easily worth $750-1000.

Great work as usual! I think I got tired reading the process for the T/A, you really busted your tail on that thing.

What an inspiration, Todd!

That CS is to die for and that WS6 looks 150x better. I'm with Scott, I hope the charge was far north of $500.
