72 Ranchero - Exterior Only

Did this one for a friend of mine. I did his work truck a while ago and saw this in his shop. I did a test spot for him to show him what it could look like and we finally matched our schedules up so I could do it for him. This is a car that was repainted a while back and has sat in a couple different shops since. Lots of oxidization, dust...etc. I didn't touch the interior cuz he had replaced it all, the engine didn't need anything nor did the tire and wheels cuz he will be replacing them soon.

Process:
Wash w/ONR (no hose available at his shop)
Clay
SIP w/yellow CCS
106FF w/orange CCS
KAIO w/white CCS
(Had to wash pads three times due to the SS red paint gumming them up)
Topped w/#16

Re: 72 Ranchero - Exterior Only

The bed was interesting. I had to put down pads and get on all fours to do it. I went over the bulk of it with the PC. I used Megs Cleaner Wax cuz I wasn't about to do a three step polish and then "top it" with #16. That would have taken another three hours! Between the high spots in the ridges and I did it by hand. All in all it took just over an hour to do the bed.

The customer was very happy. He had been excited since I did the test spot. But the first word out of his mouth when he walked into the shop was "WOW". So that made me happy!

Who would have thought it was possible? Remarkable restoration, looks better than new. Outstanding work.

Re: 72 Ranchero - Exterior Only

Beutiful job but it looks to me like the paint, or should I say the re-paint, was in good shape already except that it was very dirty and very oxidized.
