1965 Chevelle SS 327 conv, polished and Zainoed

This car was built in the dawn of the muscle car period. It is an all orginal 327/350 hp with a powerglide, everything is numbers matching. The car looked like it had been buffed at a hack shop (apparently the person who detailed this car is on autopia, I hope its not true). There was micromarring, swirls, and hologramming (severe) on the whole car.

My job was simply to polish it to perfection and protect it. The hologramming, swirling was so bad that I didn't even bother to wash the car, I just sprayed it with Meg's Last Touch and wiped it clean (it wasn't that dirty to begin and any extra marring would not have mattered).

Process

Menzerna SIP @ 1800 RPM with LC Orange CCS pad
Menzerna 106ff @ 1200 RPM with LC White CCS pad
Zaino Z5pro x 2 (ZFX)
Zaino Z2pro x 1
Zaino Z8

Some befores...

This pictures shows of the garmet of defects this paint had very well. On the top is swirls and hologramming while the bottom of the picture shows the extreme micromarring.

Here is a 50/50, the left side has been polished with Menzerna SIP/Orange pad which removed all of the swirling, but did leave a little bit of micromarring.

Here is the driver side after one pass of SIP. The gloss was incredible after one pass. However, as you can see from the sky, rain clouds where rolling in

Here is the hood before, using the flash of the camera

After..

I worked around the car with the 106ff on the white pad and a I caught a small break in the clouds. Full sun shot on hood.

I still had two more details this day so it was time to pull the car back in the garage and get the LSP's on there.

Here are some afters...

Superb job Todd! I can't believe how bad it was at first. Looks like the detailer before did not do it correct.

That is a sweet looking car now!!!!!!!

Marvelous work. THAT was the car of the time to have (except for the Powerglide). Being a ragtop it is even more rare today.

No Z-16 375 hp 396 with an M-22 4 speed, no care...

... just kidding!

Beautiful car, especially after you polished out those nasty swirls. Just incredible how much deeper and wetter the paint look in the after pics.

Thanks for all the compliments. I cannot believe a car this big was considered "mid-sized"
