$15,000 Candy Paint Job - 07 Hummer H2

I was at the local Hummer body shop and they had a special request from a customer to have his brand new (zero mile) Hummer H2 to be painted candy apple pink. The shop charged him $15,000 to do a complete color change (including all jambs) with paint from House of Color. There's still tons of orange peel (like all H2's), but much better than factory. Enjoy.

Oh i wonder what he be selling. lol

Really though, 15,000 bucks? Sounds like that guy got ripped. Could have gone to a custom shop and got it cheaper and probably better.

The paint materials alone are probably between $2000 - $3000. Don't forget that this thing is huge. All the trim, body panels and glass were removed and it was nicely done. I'm sure that any shop that does good work would charge similar for a color change with this type of paint.

Indeed, though I can't feel any sympathy for him.

I'd say it's more labor intensive to remove all orange peel on an already painted panel. These things are known to have the worst orange peel out there.

Not digging the color at all Looks like an oversized barbie tonka truck

Someone asked me last month to wetsand and give it the best shine possible to a black Hummer. I told him $1000 and he said I was crazy. I would be crazy to do all that work for $1000. He said he was looking for someone to do it for like $300. Good luck! They are gigantic and working on the roof of one of those is a tough task. I know it is a 3 day job just wetsanding and perfecting th paint.

I use to paint cars 10 years ago and that is one job that I hated and the dust and dirt is the worst. I would rather lay bricks all day long wearing all black.I could imagine what it would take to paint one of those, especially taking the whole thing apart. Then using a staging system to reach the roof. I think 15,000 is on the money. Just wish it was a different color.
