Black G35 coupe, Chevy 2500, 1500, Escalade and ML500

2004 Infiniti G35. Pleasure to work on this car because the owner takes great care in washing it himself, plus has me at the very least, wax it 4-5 times a year and deep polish it in the spring. Well, it's spring! The paint was still looking pretty good. I started off with Zaino Z-PC using green Edge Cyclo polishing pads and followed with Clearkote's Pink (50/50 mix of Vanilla Moose and Red Machine Glaze). Did a nice job removing the light spider swirls. I didn't notice until after I took this shot that the upper sun spot hit right on an area I hadn't completely wiped off Pink Moose.

I then moved the car into the shade to apply my 80/20 blend of Meguiars #16 and FK's Pink Wax. By the time I finished, the owner was ready to leave so I didn't bother moving the car or turning the front wheels for the afters.

==============

2007 Cadillac Escalade. I had applied Optimum Opti-Seal the week before but was out of film. It rained 3 times after I applied OS and I took these pictures after washing with Optimum No Rinse.

Yes, those wheels really suck to clean.

Scott - you've inspired me to break out the 35mm camera for a few of my future details... if I can get my results to look 1/10 as good as yours on film, I'll be pretty pleased with myself.

Re: Black G35 coupe, Chevy 2500, 1500, Escalade and ML500

2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. Weekly wash customer, although because of the crappy weather here, I haven't washed it more than a few times since early March.

I had applied Optimum Poli-Seal and Car Wax on it in December. The paint still looked good, beaded when it rained (according to my customer) and had a little slickness left but not much. Actually, considering this truck is outside 24/7 (won't fit in his garage) and all the rain we've had, I was pleasantly suprised that there seemed to still be some protection there.

He is looking to sell it and get a smaller truck at the end of the summer, so I decided to hold off any polishing until then, plus the paint still looked decent anyway. I just applied at coat of Optimum Opti-Seal to the paint. I was happy that despite the truck being parked in the sun (scattered clouds) and that the paint was pretty warm (but not hot), I had no issues at all with applying Opti-Seal. Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Gel on the trim.

Cloudy...

Sun popped back out...

=============

2003 Chevy Silverado 1500. Another weekly regular, again I haven't been seeing it as often as normal because of the weather. Last waxed a few months ago, just wanted to test a new version of Optimum Car Wax that Dr. Ghodoussi is working on. The original formula is 5 years old and he wants to see if it can be improved; durability, slickness, appearance and application are the areas of focus. Based on limited use, it does have a somewhat wetter look but still keeps the carnauba glow, slickness is a bit better and application seems to be QD easy. I just got my test sample a few days ago, so I have it on a couple of vehicles I will see often enough to see how it holds up. I don't know if there is any further tweaking to be done or when a new version will be available.

Re: Black G35 coupe, Chevy 2500, 1500, Escalade and ML500

2006 Mercedes ML500. Monthly wash customer. Long afternoon, because in addition to polishing and waxing the ML, I also had his BMW 650 and daughter's ML430 to wash. Overall, the ceramiclear paint is holding up very well. Very little cobwebbing or other defects. After an ONR wash, I polished it with Optimum Poli-Seal using a white LC CCS polishing pad and buffed off the excess and sealed with the test version of OCW. Only a few pics, bad location too. His driveway is very tight plus he had to pick up his wife and daughter at the airport. He is actually in the ML, ready to go...but he ducked down for the pictures. Hell of a guy, right?

For some reason, film still has an edge in richness. I had been using Kodak's High Definition 400 ASA film but I think that was what was giving such high contrast when shooting dark cars on concrete in the full sun. I switched to Kodak Royal 200 ASA and it seems to be better. I might also try some Fuji film too.

Definitely get the film developed where they will scan the negatives directly to a CD for best posting quality.

I need to watermark all my pictures. People should at least give me credit when they use my pictures.

Oh well, I do agree with the point he made using my pictures!
