Re: Black TBird

Gracias Amigos!!!!

The Tbird is a friend's car that was purchased used. I was going to detail it last september but we had a little accident in our driveway with it. Finally the new paint cured and the weather was OK to work on it, but this time for free of course.

This car was repainted in a few places prior to our friend purchasing it
hood/trunk (terrible job)
Driver's door - ok

qew
pressure washed it afterwards anyways. (wheel wells were a mess)
ssr3 on wheels
poli seal to protect
z16 on tires

Process
white pad 1500 rpm Presta light cut x2 (Thanks Rydawg!!!!) - front left fender
The rest of the car was a totally different story and the presta just wasn't enough.
So:

ec 1500/1700rpm yellow pad
presta green pad 1500 rpm
106ff white pad 1200 rpm
OP pc 6 white pad
CG extreme coat to protect.

The car isn't 100% swirl free. I'd say 95% or so. The goal was of course a flawless finish, but like other flat black paints, this one was getting marred just by me wiping off polish. The owners are not car people, so just imagine what it will look like after the first "wash"

The owner was happy. I worked on it 11 hours. I am just too slow I think.

Some outside shots the next morning.

Re: Black TBird

Wow!

It looks great Thomas! It's too bad it will go back to that condition very soon. 11 hours isn't bad, if you spent 11 I would have probably been 15+

Re: Black TBird

Great job!!! That thing was horrible!!

Nothing wrong with taking 11 hours to do that car at all!! Don't let yourself get trapped in the assembly line mentality! Do good work regardless of how long it takes! You keep doing cars like that and it won't matter how long it takes you!!! Great turn around!!
