BMW 335i, Cavalier, '87 Porsche 944

2007 BMW 335i. Referral from a regular customer. Overall, the car was in decent shape but the hood had a lot of odd marring, like someone tried to rub it out by hand and their fingertips left trailers all down the hood. I started with Optimum Polish and Edge green polishing Cyclo pads but that was slow go. I switched to a 50/50 blend of Optimum Polish and Compound and the orange Edge Cyclo cutting pads. Bingo! Did a great job on the marring, took out about 95% of the halo swirls and left a haze free finish on the rock hard BMW metallic black paint. I decided to bump the finish a bit more using Optimum Poli-Seal via PC using a white Lake Country CCS polishing pad and sealed the paint with Opti-Seal.

Sorry the pics aren't that great but the owner has a very narrow drive, with trees all around and nowhere that I could put the car in either full shade or full sun.

============

Cannondale R400 Racing road bike. Thought I'd try some of the Zaino products I got on it. Zaino All in One by hand, Z5 Pro by hand and then cleaned it up after a ride with Z6.

BTW, that Cateye light on it has 1200+ candlepower, really lights up the paths at night.

2003 Chevy Cavalier. Owner used to have an '03 E46 M3 but sold it and hasn't decided what to replace it with. He is thinking maybe a C6 Z06 or a new Viper. Anyway, he just wanted a good after winter clean-up on his Cavalier.

The paint was in pretty good shape, went over it with Optimum Polish using green Edge Cyclo polishing pads and sealed with Poorboy's EX w/carnauba.

===============

1987 Porsche 944. I detailed it about a year ago, so it wasn't as bad this time...well, except for the halo swirls. Other than a wash in June, I haven't seen it since I detailed it late last March. Hopefully he will call me more often now so instead of just bringing the finish back, I can continue to refine it.

A couple of befores...and you can see the angle of the sun in the before and afters that I was there a good chunk of the afternoon!

I had already washed the car and cleaned the wheels and dressed them and the fenderwells in these pictures.

The hood was by far the worst area of the whole car, I used Meguiars #83 DACP using green Edge Cyclo polishing pads and that combo really cut into the swirls! I really didn't want to go too hard into the original 20-year-old paint, especially since in a few areas, it was noticably worn thin. I followed with Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze on the whole car using a green Propel polishing pad via PC. I did a final polish with Clearkote's Vanilla Moose using a white LC polishing pad, again using my PC. The hood got 2 full polishing passes with #80 and VM. Again, not sure how much original paint is on the car, I wanted to ease through the remaining swirls and oxidation. I finished by laying down Meguiars #16. The rear spoiler and black bumperettes got Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Gel.

Say what you will about Meguiars 80 series polishes, but they kick butt when it comes to single stage paints.

Excellent job on all of them and that Porsche looks like you repainted it and the paint is still wet. Mike...

Amazing Scott! All the cars and bike look great.

Now I have another thread to help me prove to my girlfriend that I'm not crazy! Especially since I just applied AJ to my new motorcycle helmet last night.

Wow, fantastic job on all cars, especially the Porsche Scott!

How long did that take you?

And I agree, on single stage paints (especially Lexus), the Meguiars 83 and 80 combination work wonders.

Man that shine on that Porsche is just awesome!

No, this only proves that you are not the only crazy out there! The bike shots make me think I should put some Carnauba Jett on the 7 year old's new Schwinn!!

I started on the Porsche around 3:00 PM and finished a little after 6:00 PM (interior just got a vacuum and quick wipedown). Small car, so washing it with ONR took maybe 15 minutes but still took around 2 hours to polish out.

cusepack-unfortunately, my bike looks like crap now. Heavy rains on Thursday and Friday and the paved trails I ride still aren't completely dried out. 99% is fine but there are 3 short areas that I have to ride through 2-4 inches of water.

gmblack3a-I've been averaging a little more than 17 mph since I used Zaino on it. Either it helped or more miles means more speed. Maybe a little of both.
