Re: 1995 Porsche Carrera, '05 S2000 and Grand Cherokee
2005 Honda S2000. This car had some of the softest paint I have ever worked on. The owner had polished it with a PC and Poorboy's SSR1 a while back but said he was having some problems with hazing and marring. Once I washed it, I saw what he was talking about. I started on the hood with Optimum Polish using green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads and was getting a fair amount of hazing but it also did a great job on the mostly light halo swirls. I decided to cut back a bit and see (since the paint was so soft) if a lighter polish/pad combo would correct the paint without leaving marring to polish out. I switched to my PC and used a white LC polishing pad with Clearkote's Vanilla Moose. That really did the trick, although after polishing and before waxing I had to go over the car with Quikshine to remove the excess oils left behind by VM that left some light smearing.
Before:
After VM and a white LC pad-I think you can see the light smearing I was talking about :
Before:
Again (and again, some light smearing):
After going over the car with VM and then with Quikshine, I waxed it with Clearkote's Carnauba Moose.
The owner of the S2000 wants me to come out to his house and wash it every couple of weeks, definitely going to use Monster Fluffy's on this one to keep it as mar free as possible!
I also detailed his younger brother's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. For a vehicle driven by a high school senior, it was really in excellent shape. It needed some light claying, then I used Optimum Polish and green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads, and my son waxed it with my 80/20 blend of Meguiars #16/FK's Pink Wax.

This is the money shot. Great...
And you have to respect a man who'll do premium work on common, robot-sprayed paint like that Jeep. Good for you.

Great work on these cars Scott. I can attest that black S2000's have really soft paint. I've detailed several of them myself. For some reason you also pull color when you polish the mirrors on them but not the rest of the body. It's the same thing with the red ones.

Too funny! I actually had to do the same to a hammered Kia Spectra this summer.

Hey Scottwax,
Brilliant work here! I noticed a reference to the Monster Fluffy. Is that from DetailersParadise or is that a reference to another microfiber? I love the MF's from DP.

Re: 1995 Porsche Carrera, '05 S2000 and Grand Cherokee
Richard-yes, I am referring to DP's Monster Fluffy. I use it on my own stupidly soft black paint, plus on black G35's, Porsches and now, apparently, S2000s.
