I thought about doing that and it would have removed the spray paint, but it would have removed too much of the factory paint without knowing when to stop. I knew that solvent wasn't going to damage the factory paint (no matter how long it sat there) and it really softened up the dried up spray paint quickly. The spray paint was so thick that it had to be razor bladed away instead of just wiping it off with a towel. It was a sludgy mess!

Yup! The last owner had the stripes clearcoated and it failed from sun damage. Check out the before, during and afters:

Again, not perfect, but much better and ready for resale with ZERO REPAIR COST.

I tried buffing a portion of 1 with compound and polish, but it didn't make a dent. I'll probably leave them the way they are.

Re: Extreme Spray Paint Removal Pics

That is an amazing transformation. I have a question though. Did you scrape off the clearcoat failure area and just left the base coat to the elements? I'm looking forwards to updates on the car.

The clear was actually chipped away with a razor blade. I tried blasting it off with a power washer, but it didn't budge. It's just base coat in some areas on the hood and tops of the fenders. I''m starting on the interior next and then I'll put it up for sale.

Re: Extreme Spray Paint Removal Pics

HOLY S#@T! :slow clap to fast clap:
You think you could do that with this?

Its my friends truck, his friends came down from NY and did this for a carshow. It was damn cool. You have to appreciate graffiti and realize that the paint was takin off a long time ago for body work and it was just for fun. Anyway, DAMN GOOD WORK.

Re: Extreme Spray Paint Removal Pics

Wow, so would you say you were basically removing pure overspray on top of the OEM paint? How much do you like the AutoMagic products? Amazing transformation!
