'07 Escalade, X5, RX330, '07 New Beetle

2007 Cadillac Escalade. She got it about 3 weeks ago since her black '05 Escalade was a whole two years old! Must be rough! Glad she got Diamond White this time and not black again. The 18 spoke chrome 22s aren't going to be fun to clean each week though...

She wisely requested no dealer prep so no swirls. No need to clay either, one of the advantages of Escalades being made right here in Arlington, about 4 miles south of where this customer lives. Obviously, rail dust isn't going to be a problem.

I just gave it an Optimum No Rinse wash on a toasty 34 degree day, and waxed with my 80/20 blend of Meguiars #16 and FK's Pink Wax.

============

2002 BMW X5. It had been since last April since I had waxed it (weekly regular) but some lowlife broke into it in August, breaking a window and damaging the left rear door, requiring the area be repaired and repainted. The body shop told her no wax for 90 days and by then the weather turned to crap. It really needed some deep polishing but the husband is trying to convince his wife to trade it in on a new X5 so he told me just to bring back the shine without going overboard. I went ahead and used Optimum Poli-Seal via PC using a white LC polishing pad and waxed with my #16/PW blend. By the time I finished, they had left so I had to take the pics in the garage.

It isn't 100% swirl free but it looks significantly better.

Both look great!

I love the front end/stance of the Caddy.

Have you ever tried WO/WO PW + OCW on white paint?

2003 Lexus RX330. Monthly customer. Wash one, wax the other. Normally, I would have done their Z06 this time but it just had the roof replaced under recall and they did some minor touch-up work on the rocker panels. I've basically been piling on carnaubas on the Lexus and this time I tried Poorboy's Natty's Blue. There is some very light swirling but with the way this winter has been, the owner wants to hold off on polishing until the next time (that would be April) in case we get another round of winter weather and more sand on the streets.

Anyway, I was happy with the very wet shine of Natty's Blue...and that I finally got the right light to shoot this Lexus in. Usually the light washes out the shine.

Their Z06 just got an ONR wash over a 1 month (and also the previous month) application of Clearkote's Carnauba Moose. Took this shot to show his new Corsa exhaust.

Wow! An FC Kerbeck Vette (New Jersey based) all the way in TX.

What a small world. Kerbeck stocks quite the inventory of Vettes (among other things....).

If PW = Pink Wax, then yes, actually. Not white paint though, a metallic gold Cadillac DTS. Really sick wet shine.

Kerbeck has the best inventory and deals on Corvettes, that is why he bought his there.

2004 Porsche Carrera. Regular customer, I detail it about every month to 6 weeks. The car really doesn't *need* to be detailed that often but he wants the car to stay as perfect as possible. I had used Poli-Seal last time to clean up some light defects, this time the paint still looked really good, just washed with ONR and applied Optimum Car Wax as I dried, then applied it again to ensure complete coverage. When I finished, my son looked at the car (he has helped me detail is several times since May) and said I should stick with OCW until it needs polishing again-pretty rare for him to notice something like that and comment-he's become pretty jaded about how cars look when we finish, so I may be on to something with this Porsche.

Just a couple quick pics since I have posted this car a few times.

===========

2007 VW New Beetle. Brand new, less than 400 miles on it. I had done her red New Beetle a few times but she ended up giving it to her daughter when her S10 Blazer (posted that one a few weeks ago) died. They fixed the Blazer, had me detail it and then put it on the market. She loved her Beetle so much, she bought another one-although I am not sure why she chose pale yellow though.

This one has the 150 hp inline 5 cylinder and she says acceleration is noticably better than the other one she had. She says the stereo is better too.

Anyway, I gave it an ONR wash and clayed at the same time using Mother's Clay, then polished it with Poorboy's Sealant with Polish via PC and a white LC polishing pad and sealed with Werkstatt's Acrylic Jett. Why PwS instead of Prime? We just didn't have time to wait 30 minutes (we also washed the Titan you see in the last pic) for Prime to cure before appying AJ. Simple as that. PwS really helps me out in those situations.

Actually, that was Friday. 55 on Sunday when I detailed the 911, 64 today when I did the Beetle. Near 70 tomorrow and Wednesday, back to mid 40s on Thursday...then 50s the next several days. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate winter. Just hate it.

Don't worry, with this global warming winters may be getting milder, and you might be getting closer to the beach!

Coldest January here since 1988.

Not buying into the global warming religion. Back in the 70s, global warming was preached in the classroom like global warming is now.

We had the warmest December ever, or something. On the one hand, I can believe we (humans) are affecting the climate, on the other hand, I don't believe that 100 or 150 years of temperature measurement in the 11,000 years since the last ice age can prove that this isn't just a normal fluctuation. Of course I didn't read anything about the report that just came out, only some graph that showed my house will be beachfront in 2090....
