Porsche Carrera - Black Full Sun

I started this 05 Porsche Carrera on Monday late afternoon and finished it on Tuesday. It had some pretty bad marring in the paint which was leveled down using a 4 step leveling/polishing process.

During the detailing we had some heavy winds late Monday so I moved the car into the shop area and I guess because of having the doos opened the battery drained so I only have 2 AFTER pics of it outside while the battery was being charged. The good news is that those two pics, especially the hood shot (open because of the battery charger) were in the full sun.

Wednesday morning we had heavy overcast skies (it has been raining off and on since Thursday) so while I have a few extra pictures of it they are all without any natural light. So for that I apologize.




Here are two pictures of the marring that the whole Porsche was covered in.


Hood -







Rear driver fender -







After being polished and sealed the paint work looked very nice, it had a few areas that I was not totally happy with but a few random scratches just couldn't be removed.

Passenger fender -






In this only other full sun picture you can see some of the paint chips in the hood....those really annoy me






Now I also took a few pics of the Porsche under overcast skies.


















Lastly....the other day I applied some of the Optimum beta sealant David and I are working on to a portion of my trucks hood....can you tell what area? This was right after a brief heavy rain today.

VERY NICE.... VERY NICE INDEED!!!

New Porsche paint is so soft, if you breath on it, you get marring! Black is very soft for unknown reason as they use the same clear.

I can't wait for that sealant to be out. I talked to him about it a while back but I don't remember when he said it would be ready. I bet it would be a big hit just like the rest of his products.

Porsche paint is usually easy to correct but in that the payoff is that it is easy to marr also....even while seeking to correct the paint!!


I have found that the LC white pad and OCP make a great combo for Porsche paint. Hyper, if needed, responds well with the green pad or a black lambswool...rpm's right around 1500.

Doing paint correction on Porsche's is rather difficult because of the body contours which is why I rarely use an orange pad for Porsche paint correction. It's not very forgiving which is why I reach for a black lambswool over an orange pad or the green cutting pad.

As for the sealant, I am so far really impressed with the results of this latest beta sample but we still have a few issues with the evaporation. The slickness is like that of PoliSeal, very nice gloss, so now we need to see about durability.
