Zaino'd F150
Well based on recommendations and posts from various forum members I decided to do a complete detail using Zaino on my F150. I want to thank Ranny at Pakshak, Sean, and Zaneo for all your input and taking the time to answer all my questions.
Process was as follows:
Wash with Optimum No Rinse
Clay with Clay Magic bar
Polish with OP/OC Mix with PC and Megs 8006 pad at 5
IPO wipedown
Z5 Pro ZFX'd x 3
Z6 wipedowns in between coats
Z5 Pro on all glass and chrome (including wheels)
Sonus Trim and Tire gel on all trim
Tonneau cover-Aerospace 303
Tires-Megs Insane Tire Shine
The pics didn't do the results justice. I was shooting pics in the full sun so it was hard to capture the clarity of the finish. I must say that I really must bow down to the masters and pros that do this on a daily basis. I spent about 6 hours in claying and polishing and I have no idea how guys can do a complete detail like this in one day. I broke it up into 2 days (wash, trim, interior, etc Day 1) (clay, polish, LSP Day 2) and it still kicked my butt.
My hats off to the master on this forum. Mike, Sean, Anthony, Scott, and many others. I really appreicate the effort that you must put into your work on a daily basis.
Tomorrow I plan to top with some Z8 to see how it looks. Overall I am very happy with the results. The mixing of Zaino etc takes some time to get used to. I mixed about 2 ounces and ended up having about 1 ounce left over even after 2 coats. Needless to say every piece of chrome in the engine including the glass got a coat

My question now to frequent Zaino users is should I top with Z2 Pro or should I just hit it with some Z8 sealant???

Looks pretty wet to me. I am sort of intrigued by Zaino, but I am so happy with my other LSP's I don't really have a need to get any. Regardless, the truck looks great.

WOW! that second pic almost looks blurry the paint is sooooo wet, I gotta try Z5! How dirty does the applicator get between each coat of Z5? (given no matter what we do to keep a clean app, there is always something on it)!

Not dirty at all. I wiped down with Z6 between each coat. Washed the app with some APC with my other MF's after the detail and the app came out good as new.

On Z-5 Pro, just use Z-8. Works well on black and I'm sure it would on red also.

I'd do both as I've done on my 06 Porsche C2S which is black.
Z2 over Z5 or/and Z8 is icing on the cake!
I did several coats of Z5/ZFX and between each, Z6 QD. Finished last Z5/ZFX on one day, hit with Z8. Following day, Z2/ZFX and Z8 between each coat. Very nice effects!
Maintain with Z8 all the time after each wash. Very glossy and now wet looking. Getting close to a wax wetness, but not quite fully there. One thing you'll see is the clarity. This is why it will probably not be just like a wax which has the effect of "dulling" the finish down, but adding gloss/wet looking effects. Wax looks a bit "muted". Zaino looks very clear and very reflective w/o looking like old Zaino that did look like plastic wrap/sterile look to it.
The new Zaino Z5-Pro and Z2-Pro is way better than old Zaino. So those of you still thinking it's that typical Zaino "plastic" look, it's time to look once more at the newer Zaino!! I think you'll like it.
Besides, you can top it with wax if it's not looking deep enough on some colors. I used to top Poorboys EX-P with wax to take down some of the sealant brightness. Zaino today is much better!
My car is way overdue for swirl removal ( limited time made me wash it a local car wash by "hand" which means swirl city.) They need to rename Splash carwash to Swirl carwash!
Once I get time to do a full detail on the Porsche. I'll shoot pics of before, durring and after.
SO go ahead.... Hit it at least one time with Z2! Finish with Z8 and see what you think!
Regards,
Deanski

Looks fantastic, Pat
Z2 Pro is really up to you. Try it on a panel and see if you like/notice the difference.

Honestly, two coat of Z2 should be sufficient. I'd just hit it with Z8 every other wash. Should bead all the way to spring if you do that.
Great looking truck, Pat.

Gorgeous work, Pat!
Glad everything paid off...your finish looks stellar!
Basically, Zaino is a system. You can use Z5, Z6, Z8, then Z2, switch them up as you please. As I've mentioned in my comparo thread, Z2 Pro is going to make the paint pop a little bit more, whereas the Z5 Pro has a bit more depth. If you don't like the look of Z2 Pro, switch back to a Z5 Pro layer on top .
