Really tough E320, Accord, Suburban, more of the GTI
Here are a few more pics of the 2002 VW GTI. To refresh, I used Optimum Polish using green Cyclo lite cut pads on the hood, Werkstatt's Prime using white Cyclo finishing pads, Acrylic Jett by hand.
=========
1996 Chevy Suburban. Really could use some polishing but the owner just wanted a wax since it is headed down to his ranch for hunting season. I'll see it again after hunting season is over...probably with a few extra scratches!
I had a 1/4 full tin of Meguiars #16 and a couple ounces of FK1's Pink Wax in another tin and melted them together to make #16 Purple Wax. Probably a 70/30 ratio or so. Anyway, I thought I'd try it on this Suburban.
Compared to #16, this combo has a somewhat wetter look and darkens the color more. Both my son and I could see the difference when I used them side by side on the rear door.
===========
2006 Honda Accord. Regular customer, I see this one about once a month. Gave it an Optimum No Rinse wash and sealed with a 50/50 mix of Optimum Car Wax and Werkstatt's Carnauba Jett.

1997 Mercedes E320. This one was a real workout. It had been about 15 months (according to the owner) when it was last sealed with Zaino and he had never polished the car in the nearly 10 years he has owned it.
The whole car was like this, and even worse in some areas. Honestly, this picture does not do justice to how bad the swirls were but it has the best sun angle for pics. I worked on this fender for 3 steps to give you an idea on the progress, then went over the whole car using the same process.
This is after using Clearkote Compound and orange Cyclo cutting pads-
I again used Clearkote Compound and the green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads-
I followed with a 70/30 mix of Menzerna 106FF and Clearkote's Red Machine Glaze and the green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads, you can see how much darker and deeper it made the paint.
I did go over the car a second time with 106/RMG but by then, the only sun was in the owner's front yard and I don't think he wanted me to move his car there. Anyway, I got about 90% or so of the swirls, scratches, scuffs, etc. out of the paint. Some of the defects are deep enough I am not sure if wetsanding and a rotary would be enough. Still, it as a huge improvement.
While I was working on the outside, my son detailed the interior using Woolite/water and dressed with Optimum Protectant Plus. Honestly, the interior wasn't even very bad at all so I was suprised to see a noticable improvement when my son finished.

EX w/carnauba is a carnauba/sealant blend. Just one product.

Very clean benz. For that model, would you say that the clearcoat is as hard as audi or vw?

Really good to see some honest sun shots Scott, I think as pro detailers we all know there is a limit to what can be done in a given amount of time, but still a lot of folk seem to feel the pressure to claim full correction and present non sun shots as evidence. It is nice to see the truth for a change (which is a high level of correction, but not 100%) so big respect from me.
