My first RED car...Lotus Elise

The paint on this car was the best I have yet to work on. Very minor swirls. All I did was concentrate on enhancing gloss and shine. I was given a limited budget too, and polishing Elises I hear are alot of work. I removed a minor scratch though. The process:

Exterior:
-Wash
-Clay bar
-AIO
-RMG
-P21S
-Plexus on starshield (aka...clear bra)

After the pics, I dressed the tires with Autoglym and 303 on trim. It was getting very dark so I decided to take pics before this step

Interior:
-Meg's #40 on plastics and vinyl
-Vacuum
-BMW Lederlotion on leather
-AIO on paint

Pics were bad b/c I don't know how to take good pics. Furthermore, it was getting dark. The owner said they will be taking the car on a photoshoot. When he makes the pics, I will show everyone

Looks good.

AIO and P21S is a good combination in my experience.

I don't think all the pics are bad, it seems you mainly need to practise focusing. But it's easy to see that it's a nice glossy red

The paint is very deep and wet looking.

Lovely glossy wet shine there! Looking good. Great car too the Elise, wonderful handling, just screams to be taken out and ragged on a track!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I felt very lucky to be detailing this car. It was my first sports car that I detailed that wasn't mine. The owner was very happy with the results and soon I will be detailing their Lexus as well.

Ah very nice! I detailed a red elise a few months back...it was one of the most difficult clear coats to correct that I have ever faced! Dont know why! At certain edges the paint is DANGERSOULY thin and correction was almost impossible for some areas. None the less, beautiful car! even though getting in and out of it is MAJOR PITA!

YES 01bluecls!!!! I studied your post about your Lotus detail very well...I came into the job thinking alot of work needed to be done, but it turned out fairly easy thanks to the condition of the paint! Great job on your Lotus detail too. The owner might be taking some pics and if I get the chance I will post those pics!

Cool, post them up when you get them. The car is very nice overall and deserves to be shown. Tell the owner to keep it that way so you wont have to worry about heavier corrections later. Im actually glad the owner of the elise I did, sold his so I wont have to deal with it anymore lol
