Disgusting Toyota Pickup!

This truck belongs to my girlfriends father. He does odd jobs, so his truck gets pretty trashed as you can see. My girlfriend thought it would be a great fathers day present from her to her dad. He told me it was pretty dirty, but it was a little worse than I expected . The exterior was heavily scratched and had all kinds of crap on the paint which aren't noticeable in the before pictures. The inside was pretty gross. There were food wrappers, soda cans, misc. food, coffe stains, you name it. Both the seats and the rugs were heavily soiled.

He told me that he was more interested in getting the interior back in shape and not to go nuts on the exterior.


Here is my process:

Washed exterior with white wall cleaner using a soft hair brush

Washed again with car soap & steel wooled windows to get paint overspray off

Cleaned engine compartment

Clayed exterior with Kar Kraft clay bar

Used acetone to remove paint from bottom panels

Buffed complete exterior twice with SSR2.5 using a Meguiars burgundy cutting pad

Buffed complete exterior with SSR2 using a yellow foam polishing pad

EXP by hand

Super Blue Dressing on tires & wheel wells

Shampooed interior carpets & seats with heated extractor (couldn't remove all of the stains in the carpets)

Spray dyed carpets with Kar Kraft Carpet/Vinyl Dye

Used Kar Kraft Super Kleen (GP cleaner) to clean all interior vinyl, dash, door panels, etc.)

Dressed interior vinyl with Kar Kraft Hi-Lite (dressing in a can)

What did you use to Shampoo the interior!?!? Absolutely amazing Rick!! Great job all around, I feel your pain with this nasty pickup, dosnt it suck having to go around the truck 3 times to get it looking good

I have a Thermax Therminator extractor that I used on the carpets & seats. I used Kar Kraft's extractor shampoo. It worked very well on the seats, but the rugs were too far gone so I had to dye them.

I'm definitely not looking forward to doing another job like this! Well, at least not for a little while .

Excellent work . . . went from a nightmare to looking great.

The nasty ones are more work, but the transformation much more dramatic.

Did you find that the Burgundy cutting pad and SSR 2.5 worked well together? Thats my plan of attack for tomorrow for my car.

Ah, you dyed the rugs... makes sense. I was going to ask about the tape on the trim around the rugs. Looks great, let's just hope he keeps it (close to) that clean!

Yeah, as all said, looks amazing! Do you like the extractor you have, hows the smell of the Kar-Kraft extractor shampoo? Why the tape again?

I don't know the condition of your car, but I think that combo might be a little too much. I only use the burgundy pad when it is absolutely necessary because of it's agressiveness.

They did work well together. Lot's of cutting action, but it's way too agressive for most vehicles. This vehicle was a little different because it was so bad. I would try the SSR2.5 with a foam cutting pad instead.
