2006 Z06 Corvette, Dodge Ram Hemi, RX330, my car

2003 Dodge Ram Hemi. Passenger side was repainted, had swirls, etc and a few areas where the paint is checking in a circular pattern and according to the owner, those areas are slowly getting bigger. Hail damage on the hood and roof too. He just wanted it to look better so he can sell it.

Here is a collage of before shots he sent me. Not sure why the color is so off.

The truck was in the shade when I got there and by the time my son and I had washed it, there wasn't much direct sunlight to use to see what progress I was making on the swirls but it was easy to see how much darker the black paint looked just with the first polishing step.

I started off with Meguiars #83 DACP using a Meguiars polishing pad, followed with #80 Speed Glaze using a green lite cut Propel pad (perfect pad for #80, IMO) and sealed with Poorboy's EX w/carnauba. By the time we finished, it was after 8 PM and we were losing light quick, so no way for me to accurately access if the swirls were gone or not. The tires are dressed, btw, but the rubber was very dry, the dressing soaked right in.

The next day, I got a very nice e-mail from the owner:

After seeing the truck today, you did one amazing job! Just by
looking at it I feel as if $2,000 has been added to the value of my
truck. Here is a nice before picture with direct sunlight I found.
Keep in mind, I just got done waxing the truck in this picture and
that actually covered up just how bad it was. (the first picture of this thread is what he is referring to). The entire side they
did the repairs on pretty much looked that bad or worse. I pulled it
out into the direct sun light and all of it is gone now. Thanks again
for a job well done!

Made my day to find that in my inbox.

==============

2003 Lexus RX330. I have yet to deep polish this one yet, the owners keep it very clean and I wax it every 2 months. So far, it has FMJ, Natty's Blue, Paste Glaz, Souveran, OCW and now #16, all applied 2 months apart, with #16 slapped on today when I took these two pics, one in the shade, one in the evening sun. Yes, that is the Z06 in the garage you see in the first pic.

==============

A quick shot of my car. I had it in the shop last week getting a new a/c compressor, dryer, expansion valve, etc and both fenders had some marring, plus I drove to Kentucky and back over Memorial Day weekend (made it back, 870 miles, in less than 13 hours, including all stops) so my car was looking a bit ratty. Started with Meguiars #80 using a Propel green lite cut pad and followed with Werkstatt's Prime Carnauba. Great product, insane wet shine but probably not the best to follow #80 with without washing first. The combination of #80's oils and the acrylic/carnauba blend in Prime Carnauba left some dark streaks in the paint. Using Optimum Car Wax to finish it off removed the streaks however. Added a second coat to ensure complete coverage. Probably hit it with Carnauba Jett when I wash it next.

Anyway, turned out pretty good in the end.

2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Awesome, awesome, awesome car! Before my son and I started on it, he asked if we would each like a ride. Uh...yeah? Even though the car had just under 100 miles on it, he was easing into the throttle and not getting on it all the way, plus short shifting about 500 rpm before redline, it still his 90 mph in mere seconds. Really pins you into the seat.

He bought it from a dealership in New Jersey because they are only marking them up $5000 over sticker, while $15-20,000 over sticker is the going rate in the Dallas area. He picked up the car yesterday with the plastic still on it. No dealer got a chance to molest the paint.

Engine was as clean as excepcted, just hit the plastic with Meguiars Interior QD to knock the dust of it.

He is having a clear bra put on but wanted the paint lightly polished prior to installation. I decided to use Werkstatt's Prime Carnauba since it would accomplish want he wanted and give it some protection since he wanted initially to hold off on waxing until the clear bra was applied. Prime Carnauba turned out to be an excellent choice, both he and I noticed how much deeper and darker the yellow was as I applied PC with a white LC pad. You work it in for a few passes and it clears out, leaving almost no residue on the paint and making it easy to see how much it noticably improved how the car looked. I'll see it again in a month, probably go with Prime Carnauba again and top with Natty's Blue.

The door jams got Acrylic Jett Trigger and the wheels got regular Prime.

...and my son Chris, who really helped out today (washed an X5 and S550, washed and waxed the Z06, RX330 and their M Roadster).

I love when clients let you enjoy their rides. One of mine took me for a ride in his 911 when I first started out. He recently got a new M5 and has offered me a ride. However he is the type that takes good care of his car so I only get to touch it when some bad has happened or need paint correction. Awesome work on the cars.

The Z06 are very nice sports cars. Last year's F-Body gathering had one with custom silver paint that looked superb.

Nice work Scott.

Wow! the 'Vette is mouth-watering!

The truck owner is probably right about the value added.
A great service you rendered to him.
