Lotus Elise

Not a big fan of this car....it's too small for me, it's a PIA to get into and out of and I just don't care for the looks overall but my client really likes it and as long as he continues to like my work that's all I really care about

I had several BEFORE shots but I guess I didn't format my new digi-card correctly as none of them transferred So I went back the next day to take some more AFTER shots. The owner took a few BEFOREs so maybe he can Email me them and if so I'll post them up.

The cars paint was pretty marred up and you can see some areas where it looks as though it was touched up after production. I can see some sanding marks in the paint... that and the fact that it's hand built left a few areas that were much improved but not perfect.

I used my Cyclo exclusively on this detail, first with orange pads and the Opt. Compound and then white pads with Opt. Polish and sealed with OCW.

Here are a few AFTER shots...

THank you,
Anthony

That is a beautiful color! Nice work bringing it out too.

So the cyclo was completely up to the task? Now that they no longer have set pricing and my Optimum distributor carries them, it is now pretty much a must have once I get my son's tuition for this month taken care of.

Those certainly do have a unique shape to them. You either like 'em or you hate 'em I guess. Personally, I understand the pure sports car that it is, so I love Elises. It may have a strange look to it, but start driving and any sports car enthusiast will be in love. My brother wants to get one someday, so maybe I'll get to detail one too in the future.

That first pic is very striking. Wet and shiny.
Doesn't surprise me that it's OCW.
So many curves and grooves in the body, shows how much work you must have put into it.

I think that by 'quality' the guy meant fit/finish. Lotuses just don't have the Lexus-like gap tolerances.
But mechanically, everything under the skin is golden. Modified Celica GT engine, six-speed manual, and I've read that the structure is overall much more solid than any other sports car out there. No squeaks or rattles!

I personally like them, although I couldn't see spending that money on it because it's just too hard to live with day-in, day-out. It's a track star, and that's where it shines. I'd probably get a used Boxster or something I could really drive everyday if I had to.

Great detail, man. It is dripping wet!

they're nice cars. but they ARE hard to get in and out of. my brother looked at one. i'm 6'2" with bad knees. it would take me about a day to get into or out of that car.

Hey thanks guys for the compliments

Yea it is a great track car and he goes to the track alot....but as an everyday car, being just under 6'2 myself.....it just wouldn't work!!

Also, I was shocked when he called me up to tell me he bought the car because he got rid of an 05 Porsche GT3 for this Elise!!

Anthony
