Blue 02' Maserati Spyder

This car came in on trade at my work and as you can see the paint has been seriously neglected. I have been picking away at it doing a little bit at a time over the past couple of days. It is going to the body shop sometime next week to get the front bumper painted, so I cannot put any kind of wax or sealant on it until it is done but I figured I would get a head start on it and make it good enough to take pictures for the website. As you can see in the after pictures I didn't dress the wheel wells or even apply a last step product. I plan to post up some more pictures when I am 100% finished with the detail.

Here is my process so far:

Washed complete exterior & engine compartment

Removed wheels to clean behind them & sealed with AIO

Compounded complete exterior with 3M rubbing compound by rotary

Polished complete exterior with Menzerna IP by rotary

Wiped off dust/haze with final inspection

Dressed tires

* After it is finished at the body shop I plan to buff the car with Menzerna FPII. I'm not sure what I am going to use for an LSP yet. I might try Zaino or AIO + RMG + Natty's Blue. Like I said, this detail isn't done so you might see a little wax in the cracks, etc..

WOW! No FPII or LSP. Mine might not even look that good after FPII.

That's what I'm thinking. I haven't been using Zaino that long, but I really like the look of Z2 pro on bright color cars. Probably won't finish it until later next week, so stay tuned...

Wow Rick!! Another great job on another nice car. What was wrong with the front bumber that it's being re-painted. I couldn't really see anything in your pictures.

good work so far.. lsp ? upp would be nice.. but just about any lsp you choose will pop it.. cuz you already did good prep work

Great work and further proof the majority of the shine, depth and wetness come from the prep, not the LSP. Still, I'd probably go with RMG and Natty's Blue...although, to be honest, on medium to dark metallic blue, I also really like Meguiars NXT. For some reason, it really looks great on those colors.

Z-2PRO would be good as would Souveran or Blue Nattys.
