Jeez....It's a Ford!

A doctor called me a week or so ago and said:

"Anthony, I got a new car and I need it detailed. It's a Ford."

I said:

"Dude, I don't do Fords!"

So after much laughter He said:

"You'll want to do this Ford"

Well the day he wanted it done I couldn't get to it so Ron went by and washed it for him. I then went out some time later and detailed it.....a FORD!!

I gave the car a full concours detail. Even though it was new it was delivered to the doctor filthy, on an open bed truck of all things. The Dr. was pissed about it and he said they would pay for me to detail it, which they agreed to.

I just went through the whole car, starting with a wash and cleaning of the wheels and then clayed the car.

Yep.....it's a Ford....

I started with the exterior washing. Cleaned the wheels and tires, wheel wells, then clayed the entire car. I began polishing with both the rotary and the Cyclo. Majority was done with the Cyclo, Opt Compound and orange pads followed by white pads with OCP.

The areas that got the rotary where the top sections and front fenders. These were done with the green pad and Opt Compound followed by the Cyclo ritual.

Opt Wax all over....and let me tell ya, there's ALOT of paint on this baby!!

By the way, did I mention it's a Ford GT??

In the rear engine area I really went to town. Everything that I could reach was polished with either metal polish or where paint polished with OCP and then waxed. Rubber hoses were all hand dressed.

Here is the front trunk area. It was covered in hard water spots so I hand polished all the areas I could reach with OCP then waxed with VM. I applied Optimum Pro+ to all rubber/plastic areas by hand. Then vacuumed the storage area. Becareful when doing this area as the "fuzz" marks easily.

I have to go back and take some interior shots as I ran out of not only disk space but also my batteries died on me. I also hope it will be brighter outside for some nice sun shots.

Thanks,
Anthony

That color doesn't really do the car justice--the one I saw was bright blue. I'm afraid to ask what that lifting hook is for in the "trunk", not to mention the electrical cord under it.

Only one tow hook? And that looks more like an engine heater plug than jumper cables...but it's at the wrong end of the car for that. At first I thought it was the pull starter....

I never cared much for the GT's in pics I had seen but in the flesh and blood I have a whole new respect for them.

If I had the dough I would get one of these over a Ferrari 360. The GT is really put together well. Great fit and finish, nice paint, very low op and this particular model is rare because it has no center stripes. I believe there are only 29 GT's made without center stripes.

I am partial also to the blue and red colors. My only complaint about the GT is the doors, while unique, are a major design flaw IMHO. I cracked my head on those suckers twice plus had them nail me in the back several times as I was exiting the car from cleaning it

Such a cool car and I bet it was a pleasure to detail. For the dough, I would put my money elsewhere.... Ferrari or Porsche, namely.

Thumbs up

Nice!
This is the second one I have seen w/out the stripes. I think the car really looks better with the stripes.
When I saw one in person I couldn't get over how wide it was. The stripes seem to narrow it a bit.
I can't believe it was delivered in that condition.
Nice job, especially the engine compartment!

I hate you. I had a 1998 Dodge Caravan this morning.

You didn't fool me though, I knew it had to be a Ford GT. I've only seen one on the street, obviously never detailed one becauase I would have shot a whole roll so I could post pics that day!

The paint and engine look magnificient! The car looks incredible!

Beatiful car, great job on the detail. It looks better than new. I am guessing that brass looking thing in the trunk is a tow hook sitting on top of an air hose to reinflate the tires in case of a flat.

If I saw one on the street, I'd have tracked it/the driver down to give them my card

I'm jealous.... why is it everybody ELSE gets the cool cars, and all I get are daily drivers and nice "non-exotics"

I hear ya. I get to do some pretty nice stuff, but SUVs, trucks and large sedans are my bread and butter.
