Yellow Ferrari scratch repair

This vehicle just came in on trade and needed some TLC. The car had some scratches on the lower rocker panels and on the passenger side quarter panel as well. They were going to get the rocker panel repainted, but I told them to let me work my magic on it and give it a shot at repairing it.

I went to a body shop and had them make up some touch-up paint for me. Next, I hit the scratches with some 1500 grit wetsanding paper to round off the edges. I cleaned the spots with paint thinner and began adding touch-up paint to the scratches. I built up the paint over the level over the factory paint and let it sit for 24 hours to harden properly for wetsanding.

The following day I wetsnded the touch-up paint and buffed out with rubbing compound.

I will post pictures of the entire detail later.

Here are a couple before pictures of the scratches on lower rocker panels:

Here is the after picture:

Stunning! Too bad you're 3000 miles away from me, I'd have you do a couple spots on my Miata!

What grit sanding papers did you finish up with?

I used 1500 grit to take most of the paint down and finished up with 2000.

Awesome. I think you've inspired me to touch up a few spots on the Protege in the springtime! I doubt it will turn out as good as that though.
How long did it take to do that? (Actual working time AND total time)

I need to learn to do that!

Truly excellent work, plus you got to touch a Ferrari.
