I do some fee based detailing and my problem is that I cannot let a car go until all the swirls are out. I sit and fight and fight I have actually called clients and pushed out pick up time up to 3 hours because I obsess over them. How do I get away from that when a client didnt really even ask for it. I just feel like I would be doing a poor job if I do not go the full distance.

I polish each area at the level it need to correct the paint. I had to completely polish the entire top half of the Rolls with Optimum to remove the hard water spots and spot polish a few areas on the sides before moving on to DP's Final Finishing Polish. The sides were still in really good shape since hitting it with #80 in the late winter, just a few areas needed deeper polishing than FFP can handle.
Talk to your clients about their expectations and let them know that in instances where heavy polishing is required that you will need to charge more. You really don't want to get into a situation where the customer is telling you don't worry about the swirls, just wax it because you don't want them showing off your work if you didn't do what was really required.
