It seems that I didn't go into great detail about the process so I'll try and do that now.
When I steam clean I use my steam vapor cleaner and then extract. As a cleaning agent I use 303's Carpet and Upholstrey Cleaner. What many detailers don't know is that about 90% of the
grime in carpets is good ol dirt so 2 tools make the job much easier and turn out super.
A really good vacuum (wet/dry) and an air compressor. First vacuum up as much as you can then hit it with the air compressor. Run the nozzle into the carpet to dislodge and bring to the surface all the imbedded sand and such. You'll be amazed and all the stuff the vacuum can't reach.
After this I then misted on the cleaner, let it dwell for a few minutes then hit it with my steam vapor cleaner. There is a nifty attachment that came with my steamer that allows me to secure a towel over the nozzle. I first use it without the towel, go over the carpets thoroughly then I use my extractor to inject clean rinse water into the carpet and then extract out the funk. Then I place a clean MF over the steamer attachment and go over the carpets once more. This usually removes all stains and grime and leaves the carpets pretty much dry to the touch.
The same goes for seats. I clean the seats with Deep Down and then while the seat is still wet from the cleaner I go over the seat with the steamer/mf attachment. This deep cleans the poors and gives me leather with open pores, which I then use Leather Master "Vital" leather creme to condition.
The Leather Master Vital is awesome stuff. The leather in this SC was so dry and brittle but 2 applications of the Vital gave it a great soft feeling, very pliable now.
The dash board, console, door panels and headliner were all cleaned with my steam vapor cleaner. Not only does it clean but also sanitizes as it cleans
After I cleaned the vinyl it was treated with Optimum's Protectant Plus. I don't usually dress these areas but because it was so dry in the interior I thought I would give this dressing a shot. I was pleased with it, easy to apply, very low sheen, no smell and does not leave a slippery surface behind.
The wood trim was polished with FPII and then gone over with OCW.
DOOR JAMBS
Someone had asked about the door jambs....well I sprayed these areas down with some de-greaser and then once again broke out my steamer. These door jambs took along time to get really clean as there are some pretty tight spaces in there. I had to literally throw away 3 mf's because they got so greasy....they were toast
I then applied some OCW to as much of the metal pieces as I could reach......I also Q-tipped a few areas. To me a clean car is ruined when you open the door and the door jambs are filth
As for the wheels, they were cleaned with TOL's Wheel Wash then polished (Thanks to my beautiful wife for polishing the wheels and cleaning the seats
) with VM.
I put in a total of about 13 hours into this beast. I will talk with the doctors tomorrow and see if they were pleased...as the bill was close to $500
