True, but then I run the risk of messing up the picture. There will always be a way to alter pictures, but at least the casual internet user will have a hard time.

Uhhhhh ... Scottwax .... I hate to break the news to ya. But you really need to move that car. 'Cause it's got vines growing on it ... and now it appears somebody's laying bricks on it.

...

Awesome pix! Never mind that I'm a bit OT.

Pic Theft

If it wasn't for the vigilance of a fellow Autopian member, I would have not known about the tool who took several pics of my Red SC430 I have in the gallery and posted them as his car for sale on E-BAY!!!

I contacted him and requested that he remove them, which he thought it was not such a big deal.

Bottom line, "Look TOOL, it's NOT a true picture of your SC430 for sale, it is MY SC430 that you took from this website. And by the way, I have notified local and state authorities that you have committed copywrite infringement."

E-BAY was also notified, and pulled his ad off the site.

It just burns me up when you have all these idiots loose on the 'NET!

Regards,

Deanski

Nice going! I eish people would just get off their arse and take one themselves. Ican't understand how it is that hard to take your own. Oh well.
Nice work.

Dean, knowing how your coupe *always* looks, what did that guy expect to do when the buyer got there???

Bait and switch comes to mind...

Tell your friend he has quite the eagle eye.

Getting something copyrighted is fairly simple. Simply post one of the very common statements like: "All images and statements on this website are copyrighted and are the sole property of JOHN DOE." somewhere on your website. This statement, in itself, is legally binding if you took legal action.

My brother is a fine arts grad with tons of computer generated work (icons, fonts, etc) and people started using items he created for their own financial gain. He didn't mind, he simply wanted people who used them to acknowledge the items as his creation. Some people refused, and since then he has copyrighted anything and everything he posts anywhere (he would actually copyright this reply).

Well here is a first

One would expect their detailing pictures to be hi-jacked and posted up on another car detailing type forum but a few of my pictures were just hi-jacked (informed by a watchful Autopian) and then posted up on a computer forum of all places

The guy has yet to fess up to it, even after being sent private PM's so I posted in the forum myself. I am not upset by it as I now see it as a compliment but claiming you are a part time detailer and then showing anothers work as your own is just wrong.

Kinda funny really

Anthony

I have done the same thing with my personal graphic design/illustration portfolio, which I burn onto discs and send to clients.

I put a very large image of my design logo over any example of work. I fade it back so it is just barely visible but because the logo is complicated and it is overlayed on the entire photo, it would be very, very difficult to photoshop it out. If you put the copyright information too small or off in one corner... sure it won't distract from the photo, but it would be way too easy to crop out or erase.

I will "watermark" the same with any/all photos I take of my vehicles. It may render the photo slightly more difficult to read, but I seriously doubt it keeps any potential client from using your services.

My .02 worth.
