Finally full writeups on the two Ferrari's I did a while back

Just a little road trip down to Montgomery, AL for these two horses.

Both cars where paint only details.

First up is a 1987 Black Ferrari 328 GTS single stage original paint.

Client was kind enough to have the car washed for me and elected just to have a one-step polishing done.

Before pics:

Process:

Z6 wipedown
Zaino clay w/ Z6 as a lube.

White LC classic flat pad/M205/PCXP6 via KBM

This process was working great. I was amazed at the amount of defects that where bring removed. This is the rear deck area after the one-step polishing:

But unfortunately I only had 5 white pads with me. ops: The single stage paint was clogging up the pores of the pads at a very fast rate. I tried to brush them off, but I could not maintain a good level of cut. So I started washing the white pads with APC and warm water in the sink. This is my usual method of washing pads during the KBM. I spin them out with a rotary.

I set up my air movers to dry the white pads. When using the KBM is very important that you use pads that are very close to 100% dry. If not the water in the pad will cause the non diminishing abrasives to clump together which will cause excessive micro marring.

An hour later I went to use one of the white pads that should of been dry by now. The white pads are made from a higher blend of non-reticulated or closed cell foams which does not lead to fast drying times. The white pad was not dry enough. So I had to go another route.

I have plenty of classic orange flat LC pads, so I used the following:

Orange/M205/PCXP6 via KBM

This left some surface marring so I followed with:

Black/M205/PCXP6 via KBM

So much for the one step polishing.....

The nice thing about M205 is the minimal amount of dust vs M105 on some paints.

I still did a QEW wash follwed by a Z6 wipedown to prep the surface the best I could for the Z5pro.

Applied 2x of ZFX'd Z5pro, followed by Z8.

After pics:

1972 365GTC/4

Repainted with a clearcoat.

Paint only detail, 2 step polishing with a minimum 85% defect removal.

QEW to remove the dust.

Nice. I love it when people say, "How damaged can the paint on a garaged Ferrari be"?

Whats the benefit from the air movers? Lets say you had 18 white pads and kept recirculating them, same effect or different?

Usually the airmovers will dry orange or black LC pads in less then an hour. This is after spinning them out with a rotary. I am very well stocked up on white pads now.

Nice job, those cars look wonderful. Nice collection as well, love that diablo roadster in the back, one of my favorite lambos.

Nice Bryan! I hope that Diablo is in the books already! I'd give someone's first-born son to own that car...

Re: Finally full writeups on the two Ferrari's I did a while back

Quick question, on a typical sized car with a cc, how many pads do you go through with M105 and M205?
