A couple of VW's

Well I haven't posted on here in over a year or so. I moved from the Northern Virginia area to Binghamton, NY about 1.75 years ago and have been pretty busy with other things (bought a house, family life, etc).

I figured I would post up a couple of VW's I did recently.

First up is a 2008 Uniblack Rabbit. The owner drove over an hour to meet me at my shop. When he got there the car had ~500 miles on it. He contacted me because he said every time he touched his car he scratched it. He wanted the dealer lot swirls cleaned up and had two areas that were lightly scratched.
After the detail I explained proper washing and drying techniques to him and pointed him towards autopia where he probably spends much of his time when he isn't keeping his car clean now.

I used a 6.5" white lake country CCS pad with OP and 106FF. I switched between the two.
LSP - FK2180
Tires - Ardex New Concept

On to the pictures, just a few but you get the point:

Re: A couple of VW's

Next was a 2002 Galactic Blue Jetta. This paint was rather trashed. I tried several different products but mainly used OP/HTEC 50/50 on the second to third pass and just HTEC for the first - second pass with a purple lake country hybrid wool/foam pad. Then OP on a 6.5: white lake country CCS pad.

Clayed with claymagic blue

LSP - FK2180

No good afters as it was dark and rainning out.

This are after the first polishing step (no final polish yet):

Finals (no LSP yet):

Thanks for looking.

Nice work. Amazing how bad dealers are about installing swirls.

Thanks yakky.

I'm so used to seeing nasty looking new cars at dealers it's not even funny. I used to work across the street from HBL in Tyson's. I was always stunned to see how trashed the paint was on the Porsches, Aston's, Jag's, etc.

I swear the dealers here in Binghamton actually tell their shop monkeys to mix dirt and debris in with a dish washing sponge, you know, the kind with the scouring pad on one side, and tell them to practice making people cry when they come to pick up their new cars.

Its rediculous!

Thanks Ben. I know the owner of the Rabbit has been taking very good care since the detail. He purchased the proper tools/products. I will be seeing the car soon though. He had a hit and run that damaged the hood so after the paint cures it will need to be polished.

The Jetta owner I gave some information too and told him to call/email me for more. Hopefully he will take advantage of the offer.

Thanks Thomas. I forgot I had my photobucket set to small pics when I uploaded them. I will reupload them larger and change the links soon.

I'm doing well. I see you moved to the west coast. How is life out there? Still have the Jetta?

I hear ya Mike. It's pretty sad they cannot invest a little $$$ to trainning/education to keep the cars looking decent.

Mike/Thomas, I picked up a supercharged R32 about a month ago. Once I get her cleaned up and polished I will post some pictures.

Screw the pictures! I'm over on the east side of Binghamton, pick me up for a ride! Ever since I sold my 06 GTI in July I've been seriously missing it and want to get back into a VW.
