12 hours of hardcore polishing..... now we have a Superior Shine.

It has been awhile since I have done a write up on a car.

Thought it would be fun to go back to my roots.

I was called by a guy that had a 67 El Camino. I was told the paint , "looks pretty good" and "wasn't that bad."

When you first see the El Camino you would think he was correct. Upon closer examination we see the real condition.

After it was washed it was moved into my garage.

Plenty of swirls, plenty of scratches.

Here is the obligatory "look how dirty my clay is getting" shot.

Many of the scratches were plenty deep. After I check paint thickness I spot sanded as needed.

Re: 12 hours of hardcore polishing..... now we have a Superior Shine.

After a little masking to help facilitate clean up I went to it with a rotary buffer and wool pads.

After about 12 hours of work it was late. The sun had long retired for the day. I'd have to wait until the next day to inspect the work in full sun.

He is the finish as seen under the dual xenon light.

The following day was a beautiful sunny day. The perfect day to enjoy the re-newed shine on the 67!!

Joe, what is that, some fine-line blue masking tape that you have on the edges and fender crease in that one pic?
