Detail: Harley Davidson F150 (hammered/oxidation)

This truck needed some MAJOR attention. It's been years since it's had a wax, and probably never a polish. The owner had neglected it for so long, that it was almost at a point of no return! This truck is owned by one of N2S's members, 'derek'

Process:

ONR washed entire vehicle.
Clay barred entire vehicle with 2 Zaino claybars and Megs Clay Lube.
PFW w/menz pg, followed by white ccs pad w/ megs m205
sealed with optimum poliseal
Wheels and side steps removed and polished with #0000 steel wool and sealed with poorboys' wheel sealant
Exhaust tips used same method as wheels

BEFORE:

After pics from day one (today) will be posted in my next post.

Re: Detail: Harley Davidson F150 (hammered/oxidation)

Day 2:

Made quite a bit more progress today. All of the rest of the truck but the hood and roof and tonneu is completely done minus sealant/wax.

Here's a few more during/after shots of it:

50/50 (AFTER/BEFORE

Before shot of a deep, nasty scratch. (removed about 90 percent of this with some wetsanding and polish)

Hit this one panel with optimum poliseal and a coat of s100, game out like this next shot below:

tomorrow I should have the nasty-*** hood and roof complete, possibly the tonneu cover, and a coat of sealant and wax on the entire vehicle.

Thanks for looking.

looks great... HUGE difference

I was wondering what you did to polish the chrome. You said 0000 steel wool, but I see Mothers chrome polish. Could you explain a little more on how to make chrome shine without swirls? I have some chrome rims to polish out and i'm not sure exactly what to do...

Sounds like the right recipe for a BIG DOLLAR DETAIL. Great job!

haha that's not me, that's the owner of the truck. I put him to work. It's a friend of mine.

Thanks man. Basically I had him use some poorboys degreaser and let that soak for about five minutes, then I had him grab the hose and some steel wool and methodically scrub back and forth with steel wool with the hose on and it broke up the grime extremely fast. then he dried the wheel, polished by hand with mothers chrome polish, and sealed it with poor boys wheel sealant

actually I'm not charging him a dime. It's a personal friend of mine and I'm a little too nice

Re: Detail: Harley Davidson F150 (hammered/oxidation)

Today, the entire truck got another ONR wash and was hand sealed/waxed with some poliseal and s100 carnuba wax. We removed the washer squirters from the hood to ensure 100 percent of it was corrected.

Hood's coming along nicely:

(pictures taken after hitting the panels with a megs yellow diamond cut pad and some menz power gloss, followed by some m205 on a white megs pad.

there is no wax on the hood yet in these pictures.

Re: Detail: Harley Davidson F150 (hammered/oxidation)

That looks great, I had no idea you could fix the oxidation from the top and make it look that new. Great job and I work barefoot as well especially inside the car
