993 Carrera, saved from dealership!

Hey guys. Been awhile since I did a C&B, in fact, they aren't even called C&B's anymore. I'm way behind on pictures, but I processed these asap for the owner and thought I'd post.

This is a 993 Carrera, it's tracked regularly and was picked up ~6 months ago from a local Porsche dealership who has a fairly ambiguous reputation regarding detailing.

The entire process took about 8 hours. The one major challenge with this car was that the areas with original paint were very thin, so I was unable to sand or cut super heavily. Those areas were the drivers side door & rear fender, entire rear end & roof. The front fenders, hood, bumpers, and passenger door had been re-sprayed 10+ years ago and still had plenty of paint. The passenger side rear fender was a new (and quite poor) respray.

I apologize for not taking copious befores, I have to admit in the past year I've been reaching for the camera much less in an effort to save time.

So, process was:

Wash
Clay
Fill chips on hood, bumpers, fender.
Sand passenger side rear fender with 1500/2000 trizac
Compounded that fender with M105 on black wool pad
Compounded hood, front fenders, pass door and pass rear fender with 105 on PFW
Compounded rear end, roof, and drivers door with M105 on white LC pad
Entire car white LC/M205
Entire car black LC/Menz Final Polish
Re-wash with Hi temp prep wash
waxy-time.

I also dyed the trim pieces with Leatherique Rubber Black, which rocks by the way.

Enjoy, I did!

The first set of "afters" is pre re-wash and wax, so pardon areas that are not complete.

Fender after 105/205, hood undone.

gross

hood after 105/205, no FP yet

I got a new light to spot defects, I am still figuring out how to capture it properly with pictures. It works wonderfully for finding defects though, particularly holograms, which is great.

Glamour shots.
