Maserati Quattroporte Blu Oceano full Nanolex treatment

Hi all! This masterpiece of luxury is from the same owner of the silver Ferrari that I did a couple of weeks ago. He asked me about a nano treatment for his car because he had the windshield of his rally truck (he's a Dakar rally driver) treated with it and he was very satisfied with the results. Luckily for me, Florian Kessler and I contacted one another a couple weeks before this and I had a bottle of Nanolex Basic at my disposal.

I tested this on my wife's car about 2 weeks ago and TBH I wasn't really convinced that it was a winner. Reason being is that when I removed it, I could see traces of the product on the car... like swirls from a wax that's been applied and just doesn't want to come off. I then contacted Florian about it and he explained to me what the problem was and sure enough, when I did as he said everything was OK. He included a MF towel with my package, but TBH that didn't work because when removing this stuff it's a bit sticky, so the "fibers" stick to the paint. Therefore to remove this I used a retired, door-jamb rag which has been stripped of all suppleness...

You may think that the door-jamb rag will scratch the finish, but no it didn't... there's a definitive layer of protection with Nanolex that doesn't allow scratches to occur easily... nice. Nanolex is extremely hard. Anyway, this car is only about 6 months old, but it had some light swirls on it so to make sure the Nanolex treatment was 100% effective I polished out the swirls with Scholl S17 and a polishing pad before application. After polishing I did an IPA wipedown and then followed that with a "just to be on the safe side" wipedown with Prep-Sol. Here's the detail:

After application to the front, passenger side wing.

After removal:

The wheels were also treated

The inside was cleaned and the leather was treated with Insta Finish Leather Conditioner.

Now this is luxury... the back seats are even electronically adjustable...

UP SOON... a bi-turbo one of these... nice

Final thoughts about Nanolex: I love all of my waxes, but well, this stuff is nice. When you apply a wax you get crazy beading for a few days and then it sort of dissipates to an "OK beading"... I think it's been 3 weeks since I applied it to m wife's car and the beading is exactly the same as day 3 (I let it cure for 3 days before spraying anything on it). Furthermore, I let my wife's car get a bit dirty, as usual, and after foaming it, the hood was almost 100% clean and the rest of the car was still filthy...

Now if we look at the financial aspect of Nanolex here's another HUGE benefit. Let's face it, as much as we'd like to keep our customers on a regular maintenance schedule it doesn't happen a lot of the time (well at least for me because people here still think that waxing your car only has to be done once a year, regardless of what I tell them...), so instead of that waxing once every 2-3 months, you sell them a Nanolex treatment once a year and you don't have to worry with it until next year. Also, unless you're selling them V1ntage, you're probably going to make a LOT more money with Nanolex than you will with a normal wax. Now, you will still have those who insist on a normal waxing and trust me I like those customers, but you'll need to put your salesman cap on to differentiate between the two types.

I'll definitely be adding Nanolex treatments to my list of services. BTW, the owner and I have made arrangements for me to go to Croatia in the Spring to detail his 47 foot boat... I'm really looking forward to that one!!

Thanks for reading and to all the Playboy subscribers, thanks for "reading"!

- Jesse

So where do we get this "Nanolex"? I pulled up the website and I see it is not available in the US.

I'll contact the distributor because there may be VOC compliance regulations prohibiting US sales, but if I send it in a discrete brown package with a nudie mag... .

....then I'll not pay attention to the Nanolex

It just sounds like something I can sell to my customers that helps me, helps them, and keeps costs low. I tried to convert how much it is to U.S. dollars, but I dont know the little sign behind the #
