Envious Detailing: Hammered 5 series BMW

WWWWOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!
whoever learned how to use a rotary surely shouldn't have done it on a black BMW!!! With all the damage instilled in the paint, 16 hours was needed to bring it back 95%. There were a few rids here and there, and chasing the superficial remaining "light scratches" on a DD black BMW is not reasonable!

At first glance, I looked over the car while it was pretty dirty. i didnt see just how bad the holograms were! I could see a few here and there, but they didnt seem all that deep! Well after a thorough wash, the real damage was revealed!

It took over an hour to find a combo that would work and finish down well enough. I tried going with a 3 step, but it just wasnt happening as too many defects remained...it needed a 4 step process!

Process/Products used:

Wash:
chemical guys wash and gloss
grout sponge
exceldetail monterray WW

Wheels/Tires:
P21S Gel wheel cleaner
various brushes
Megs Safe D-greaser 4:1 on tires

Clay:
megs blue mild
last touch 1:1

Paint correction:
M83 on PFW @ 1300
M105 on orange @ sp.6
M205 on megs yellow @ sp.6
Menzerna FPII on LC blue @sp.6

Protection:
Wolfgange Fuzion hand applied
megs yellow foam applicator

Microfibers used:
Exceldetail monterray WW
Exceldetail titan MF
Cobra Supreme 530

Misc:
megs glass cleaner
chemical guys wet tire shine
chemical guys bare bones

Great work toyota guy ... my car looked like that a year ago after getting back from the bodyshop that decided my car needed some "buffing".

BTW ... the owner didn't want you to fix the cloudy headlights? it's a shame that it turned out great and it still has the yellow headlights.

Great turnaround, did you do anything to the lights? They look a lot better, not perfect, but certainly a vast improvement unless its just the lighting.

I actually sanded with 1500x4/2500/3000 then 105 via PFW at 1500 and all it really did was clean them, not clear them. The owner is already planning on replacing, but I told him I would try to handle them...not going to happen!
