PS Detailed: 2006 Lexus IS350 Smoky Granite..Thou shall not hack!

The clients 2006 Lexus IS350 had been hacked up by another detailer in the Atlanta area. The "shop of hacks" broke many promises to the client as they never showed up twice to properly correct the car.

The client had contacted me and sent me a few pictures. I told him I had hoped that the car could be corrected via a one-step polish.

The client arrived early in the AM. After a QEW wash and clay. The "shop of hacks" where supposed to clay the car, but I did find quite a bit of bonded contaminant on the rear of the car, leading me to believe that the car was never clayed.

I did a straight IPA wipe down on the paint to ensure a smooth polishing process and remove any fillers/glazes that might of been used.

I first tried:

M205 via KBM flat black classic LC PCXP6

This combo removed the holograms and wool induced marring, but there where some deeper RIDS that where hidden under the work left by the "shop of hacks."

Client elected to go with full correction.

Here is a 50/50 of the door after:

M205 via KBM flat black classic LC PCXP6



A few pics after polishing pics, car was washed with Z7 and a sheepskin mitt. Dried w/ a Big Blue WW. Wheels cleaned w/ MWB. No LSP at this time.

Thanks BigAl! Its always nice to have a happy client.

After using nothing but my standard 7424 for the last 6 months on at least 15 cars via the KBM, I find the XP to have more vibration. I could feel this right away. It is more comfortable to hold as I do not use a side handle on either. I do not find the increase in power to offer a noticeable amount of quicker correction yet. I have not had time to do a true side by side of correction power yet.

The larger switch is nice.
The speed dial on top is a plus. But I only roll at speed 6 from the start.

I have my old 7424 setup with a 4" pad now.

So IMO if I already had a PC, I do not think the "upgrade" is worth it.

Bryan I love to hear stories like this, I feel bad for the victom. but in the same aspect he is going to tell everyone now he knows what a real detail is. You could say he is educated now! great save, I was hoping you did this for him! again very nice work as always.

I'm happy to hear that you were able to get this guy's car properly polished...a shame that he went through all the mess leading up to this. Nice job as always on the correction.
