Deep Velvet: Sapphire Black Metallic BMW M6

A while back I was contacted by a fellow car enthusiast to do a little polishing and jeweling action on his BMW M6. This passed weekend I carried out the work we had planned a few times in the past but with some issues in both of our agendas we were unable to do it then, however the 3rd times always the charm!

Friday morning the car arrived from a longgg drive down.

This car has been modified in very unique, distinctive and great ways. For instance the wheels have been changed to two piece amazing wheels. It also has an exhaust upgrade which is absolutely AMAZINNG.

Anyways, On to the detail. Now first I apologise for the lack of detail in the pictures. The fact that the car had VERY VERY FEW swirls and defects combined with the fact that it was extremely hard to capture the defects because of the met flake in the paint.

Anyways, Not many pics of the wash process. The wheels were done with a sheepskin wash mitt and P21S wheel gel. The engine was soaked with Megs super degreaser. The heavily sooiled parts were agitated with a brush and then the engine bay was rinsed off at medium pressure. I then used Born To Be Mild and the wookies fist on the paint (my sample of the supernatural shampoo came the next day).

The car was then clayed using dodo gentle grey and born slippy.

The car was then taped up and tested a few different combinations of polishing.

I settled on Menzerna Power finish and 3m UK's polishing pad. And then to refine and jewel the finish I used Menzerna PO85RD and the 3m UK's blue finishing pad.

Now the only places where I found actual swirls that were moderately bad was on the lower rocker panels (very bad), wing mirrors, rear brake light lenses (didnt get any pics) and the rear end.

(a sonus red finishing pad was used in place of the 3m blue finishing pad because I ran out of pads.. however I also really like the red sonus pads for finishing)

Since the polishing was finished I then applied 2 coats of Supernatural.

The car came out EXTREMELY WELL, however it has been raining for the passed 3 or 4 days so I did not want to pull it outside to get a couple of finished pics.

Here are the few inside shots I have:

(I also put the car up on jack stands and polished the mufflers)

I hope you guys enjoyed and a big thanks to the owner as I enjoyed working on the car along with talking cars. I hope the drive wasnt too long!

Nice work, Daniel! What made you go with SN instead of Primo?

haha thanks!

Yes, we are actually trying to sell it. We have been asking $1,000 but just make an offer. It has 0 miles on the new clutch. We had the engine running a few years ago but then we realized we dont have a title. We have figured out how to get a title and it costs like $200 or something.

If you want any info more info on the car PM me and I will give you my dads #.

The client and I discussed it and I really wanted to show him how good SN really is. I also wanted to test Primo out on something that I will actually see as this car is located 4 hours away I will not see it often.

Thanks for the recommendation on it though!
