Vanity Detailing - 1995 Toyota Supra Turbo Targa

13 hours of grueling work later....

Process used:
Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Shampoo and Conditioner
Meguiar's Aggressive Claybar
Meguiar's Mild Claybar
Meguiar's Smooth Surface Claybar Kit
Makita rotary buffer with Meguiar's W7000 foam cutting pad, Meguiar's M85 Diamond Cut Compound
Makita rotary buffer with Meguiar's W8000 foam polishing pad, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound
Meguiar's G110 D/A with Meguiar's W8006 foam polishing pad, Meguiar's SwirlX
Meguiar's G110 D/A with Meguiar's W9006 foam finishing pad, Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 (3x)
Meguiar's Flagship Marine All-Metal Polish
Meguiar's Marine M50 One-Step Cleaner Wax
Meguiar's Endurance High Gloss Tire Shine Gel
Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer
Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner

Fair warning... my camera SUCKS in low-light conditions.

Here's before pics:

And some afters.... sorry in advance. All of the compounding, polishing, and waxing, created a lot of static, and made the car a dust MAGNET, and made the pictures look like hell. I'll take some better ones tomorrow.

Looks nice man!

So you did a three step claybar job? Just for this car, or almost always?

What method do you use with the UC/SwirlX? Prime the pad and use decreasing pressure?

Re: Vanity Detailing - 1995 Toyota Supra Turbo Targa

I only did the 3-step claybar on the hood. The owner just got it. He drove down to Louisville, KY from Bloomington, IL, to get it. He traded hoods with the seller. He drove back, and it was disgustingly dirty. The aggressive clay was completely brown afterwards. Like, poo-brown.

And you're correct about the UC and SwirlX. I lowered the speed to about 1000rpm on the Makita with the UC. The SwirlX, I used at speed 5 on the G110.

Nice work! That's my "attainable" dream car there... Looks like there's a turbo upgrade along with some other yummy enhancements on it too...

Looks great! I'm surprised you went through that whole process. I detailed a black 94 Supra about a year back and it corrected incredibly easy being that it was a single stage paint. Did this one have a clear coat? Please understand I'm not criticizing by any means merely curious.

Yes, it had a clear coat on it.

But when I really got into buffing it out, some of my pads started to darken a little bit. Not by any means the paint-transfer like a single stage does, but enough for me to think that the clear was *really* thin.
