Rasky's Auto Detailing: Black Evo IX

Mitsubishi Evo IX, exterior detail only.

Process:
Wash – Meguiars Gold Class
Wheels – P21S Gel / Tarminator / KAIO
Tires – Amazing Roll Off / Meguiars Hyper Dressing 3:1
Wheel wells – APC+ / Hyper Dressing 3:1
Jambs – P21S TAW / various brushes / Meguiars Last Touch
Clay – Meguiars Mild Clay / Last Touch
Correction step 1 – Meguiars M105 via rotary and Meguiars Solo heavy cut wool pad
Correction step 2 – Meguiars M105 via rotary and LC Classic orange foam pad
Correction step 3 – Meguiars M205 via rotary and LC Classic white foam pad
Correction step 4 – 3M Ultrafina (UK) and LC Classic red foam pad
Glass – Meguiars Detail Line glass cleaner
LSP – Wolfgang DGPS 3.0

As you will see from the before pics, this car was loaded with deep cob-webbing, holograms, RIDS, and water spots. The hood and fender had been repainted at one time and had one of the hardest clear coats I’ve ever laid a buffer to. After several passes with the wool pad and M105 I decided to just wet sand the panel lightly to get out the deeper scratches.

Before pics

Tar specs that remained after washing. These were removed with Tarminator.

All taped up

I felt this car would be a good candidate for trying out the KBM on my PC. Although I did not decide on this method for correction, I was amazed at what M105 would do with a PC, speed of 6, and a 6.5” orange foam pad. I took a couple 50/50 shots, which was after two applications (4-6) passes each. I will say the vibration is too much for my liking on the speed setting of 6.

50/50 KBM

Great work rasky! That evo looks great. How did the original paint sections compare to the resprays?

The original paint was on the soft side and was much easier to correct than the two panels that had been painted.

Good job Rasky!

4 Steps though? Sounds like you could benefit a lot from a rotary.

It was all on the rotary.

The (4th) final step could have been optional on most cars, but the customer wanted it to look as good as possible.
