1st of off, I apologize for the lack of detailed pictures and detail in the write up. As everyone who has done a detailed write up of a restoration style detail knows, it takes just as much time to document the work as it does to do the work.
Around 1950 Dr. Ferdinand Porsche built the first 356 (body style). Over the next 10-20 years, the beginning of Porsche as the car manufacturer would be formed. Those who owned British MG's and Morgan's would switch their ideas of sports cars to german engineering. Among those people who had finer tastes (JUST KIDDING GUYS, to each their own
), there was my grandfather. In one of the trips that my fathers family took to florida, a few times a year, something happened to my grandfather morgan. My dad never figured out what exactly happened, but he hypothesized that he took a turn at Sebring a little too fast and put the car into a wall. He told my grandmother that "something happened with the wheel" Anyways, he ended up driving one of the first 356's in the country up to the Dealer in New York. By the time he was about to drive into NYC, HE HAD TO HAVE ONE. Every week or two he would have to drive into New York (from Watchung, New Jersey) for his business, he would go to the Porsche dealer and ask where his car is. Well one week he drove in (on his normal schedule). He did his business in the morning and it would finished by about 12:00 (he always left the afternoon for car talk, because you never knew who was going to be there). As he was driving in he saw the first 356A cab in the country sitting in the middle of the show room. He walks up to the salesmen and says "I see you have my car." The guy responded, "No, you dont understand this is the first one in the country, it is the dealers, sorry." .... about 30 minutes later he was driving back to New Jersey in the first 356A cab in the country.
356's have always been one of my dream cars so this car was a great car to work on for me!!!
ANYWAYS, HERE IT IS
I started off by covering up a few tricky parts in the engine.
The car was covered in pollen. And REALLY needed a quality detail!
I havent really done a review of the wookies fist. So here it is; I LOVE IT

I cleaned the cracks and such with a swissvax wheel brush and P21S TAW
I then pressure washed the car.
I then started washing with born to be mild.
I then used the SN drying towel to dry.
I then pulled the car into the studio to COMMENCE THE POLISHING.
I settled on SIP on purple foamed wool, then SIP on white polishing pad from Sonus (PERSONALLY, I like this pad). then PO85RD on red finishing pad from sonus.
The red paint was harder then most to capture the defects.
I then removed the mirror, and polished it. The camera could not capture it but it looked 100% better.
Now that the body was polished, I moved on to the wheels and tires. I removed the hub caps and wheels then cleaned and protected everything using P21S Wheel Gel, tardis, megs
super degreaser and jeff werkstat prime strong.
The hubcaps were rusting a good bit on the inside, so I steel wooled with 000 and some metal polish and then protected with werkstat prime strong.
I then applied 2 coats of supernatural, with 24 hours in between.
