Another Ferrari Californiacation...

Hi all! Here's another one... straight off the truck and scratched worse than... well just take a look at the pics .

When I was helping the owner of the dealership take off the plastic he looked at me and said with a look of hope in his eyes, "This one looks better, right?" I never was one to have very good bedside manners so I said, "Let's get the 'crime light' and see before we get our hopes up."

If words could describe the look on his face when I showed him the next pics, I'd have to say it was like a "Dad didn't show up to a baseball game" which then turned into a "someone pi$$ed in my Wheaties" look.

On the menu for today: Some cat scratch fever for the appetizer...

A little Purple Haze (well, pink rather) to boost your appetite...

And what better to follow the fun stuff than some psychedelics?

That stuff must have given this car the runs (seen best in 5th pic)... and on both sides

OK my point and shoot camera doesn't pick up the damage as well as the "crime light", but the roof of this thing was just awful and unfortunately couldn't be saved enough (got about an 85% correction on it... just too deep)

Next on the menu: Some silicon coated fish eyes... Yummers! Don't be shy, have more, there's plenty of them!

Some buckled up moldings...

Oh and all that was topped with a heapin' helpin' of sand everywhere... and some calcium-filled water spots... also everywhere.

Oops! How did those get there?

Oh, I almost forgot the dessert! Chips!

OK that's it for the meal, now time to clean up the mess! Still water spots in the cowl, I'll touch those up on Friday before we leave. I was really pressed for time on this one. For the most part it came out nice, but there were those certain spots, like the roof (especially) and some spots on the fiberglass that just couldn't be saved because the scratches were just too deep. Oh and there were no buffer trails this time so I guess I can thank them for not trying this time !

Thanks for reading and to all the Playboy subscribers, thanks for "reading"!

- Jesse

Great car, not so great standards from Ferrari.

You made a great save there, hope the dealer picked up the bill and not the customer.

Ferrari quality is exactly where the first "n" is from the bottom label...

Hey Jesse, it's in perfect harmony with my Ferrari & Bugatti pics, isn't it? Haha!

Ferrari has always been low on the fit and finish scale, but I have seen a trend where it is worse than ever. Some of my clients will tell me over the phone(new clients who have not used me previously)the car is brand new why so much? this is a great example why as I will come do an estimate with the light of truth and show them just how little $300,000.00 gets you in the delivery phase of ownership.

Do you work just for Ferrari or are these the only details you post?

Yup, I wonder if they've even entertained customers' complaints? Probably not, but it's going to come back on them, I'm sure...

No I don't "work" there, I just handle all of their dirty work. I detail all kinds of cars, but with most of them I have time constraints and don't bother taking pictures.

Re: Another Ferrari Californiacation...

Awesome work Jesse! Very entertaining write up too!

I can't believe that the paint on my $30,000 car came looking better than a $300,000 car....what a shame!
