Envious Detailing: TRASHED F150

Advice needed on how to clean those seats up more on the next car that comes in this way to me...I was lost on this one! Tried FOLEX, APC+, Simple solutions APC, Steam, HWE, lots of elbow grease...nothing seemed to really work!

the seats were totally trashed and I didnt think they would come up perfected. First things first, I told Robert Ill get them as best as possible, but those stains are not coming out! The carpets and the doors were another story though - I knew those would clean up rather well!

And then the paint and exterior - hammered! oxidation, swirl marks, total lack of gloss = one sad looking truck!

With that said, here are the pics to show what I am talking about:

You can see in this picture the condition of the paint, or lack there of! Its dull and bleak looking around the door handles...









I think we decided that this was a combo of chocolate and laffy taffy:




This is what the "aggressive" clay looked like after just the 1/2 tailgate! Usually the vertical panels have less bonded contaminants...

Here are the afters...notice the staining in the seats is lessened, but still remain! We tried 3 different cleaners on them, steaming them, and extracting them...nothing really worked all that well! Thats what you get with years of grime and spills left for too long! Maybe a hot water pressure wash will work, but that is a 3 day down time on the truck to take the seats out and wash/air dry them and neither one of us had the time for that!















Overall, it turned the truck around. I was kinda bummed the seats didnt come out looking all that great, but the rest of the truck did. I think he is going to replace the seats in the future anyway with some leather ones...at least then they will be much easier to clean up after the two little culprits - a 5 yr old and a 2.5 year old with a mom left alone while the dad was in IRAQ for the last year! Needless to say, she didnt have the time to care for the truck!

eric did you try pressure washing them? i also noticed that a high foaming window cleanet that has amonia will lift them stains the trick is to saturate them completly and evenly, then scrub. good luck on your next adventure there about as bad as jeep seats! nice work on what you did!

no pressure washer! I only had 6 hours with the truck...we took 7 and ran out of time an hour earlier, but I "had'' to touch things up on the outside - chrome, wheel wells, etc. He said he didnt care about it, but I had to do it!

That was my next thought, the pressure washing. Then he mentioned its good enough as he is going to replace them with some leather ones next yer anyway...

Anyone thinking about getting a detail from Eric should definitely spring for it. Great guy, and even better work. The results are definitely better than I expected and better than I could ever do.

I HATE those seats.. Some times when they are wet, you think you have the rings out, and low an behold - they dry and are still there! My Mother-In-Law has beige cloth seats that do that in her 03 Nissan Sentra. I have been using mainly Prochem products on all the cloth/carpets of cars.

I used Prochem's Fine Fabric Shampoo, diluted (per label) with warm water in a 5gal bucket. Lathered up the solution with a grout sponge and brushed the foamy solution on the seats with a horsehair brush, then extracted with All Fiber Rinse with my Mytee Lite. I have had success with that method. I also run an air bower in the car to dry the interior out ASAP.


What product did you use on the door handle plastics? Looks good! Great work!

meguiars gold class trim detailer...i love the stuff for small areas, takes too long for larger areas like my Xterra!

The only solution for those seats is different fabric. I've done one, and BioKleen TLC did a decent job, but you have to clean the seats early on, let the stains rise and clean them again towards the end of the detail to get somewhat respectable results. Just a heads up, Mazda 3s and Jeeps have the same crap fabric.

Carpets turned out great and the exterior looks superb.

Ya I'm pretty sure the F150 cloth seats are impossible to get any heavy stains out...

yep, no rotary...M105 is just one of the better products out there right now for me! via PC, it finishes down pretty well for how much defect removal it has!
