Premium Detailed 2008 Black Magic Metallic 2 door VW GTI!!!

2008 Black Magic Metallic VW 2 door GTI. This car is a zippy little roller skate on 18 inch wheels. With a turbocharged inline 4 cylinder engine firing out 200hp and 207 ft lb of torque this machine has no problem moving out of its own way. This GTI does 0-60mph in 7.2 seconds on the stock engine and drive train.

I was contacted by this client on Autopia.org to do a full exterior detail on his 08 GTI and to remove some swirls and holograms throughout the car. This car is relatively new, but it seemed as if someone tried their hand for the first time with a rotary buffer on the drivers side of this car. The car was a bit swirled, but the driver door was the worst panel on the car. The clear on this car was ridiculously hard, as most German clear is. When I was finished with the detail the owner commented that the car looked like a totally different color. The flakes on this car were popping in the sun very nicely.

Exterior paint:
* Dawn presoak and wash
* Clay with Pinnacle Poly Clay 2 and ONR diluted as lube
* Taped up with 3M masking tape
* Cut and polished with Menzerna PO203 with G110 and 4” and 6.5” LC CCS orange pads
* Finished with Menzerna PO203 with G110 and 4” and 6.5” LC CCS white pads
* Sealed with Four Star UPP
* Exterior windows cleaned with Stoner Invisible Glass
* Trim treated with Turtle Wax ICE synthetic paste polish

Exhaust tips:
* P21S Polishing Soap
* OPT Metal Polish

Wheels and tires:
* Wheels and tires sprayed down with Eagle One A2Z wheel and tire cleaner
* Washed with Dawn and EZ detail brush and other various brushes
* Tires dressed with OPT Opti-bond tire Gel

Now for some before pictures!

Dawn presoak and wash

After wash and clay bar. SWIRLS!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Driver door

All taped up ready for polishing

50/50 of hood

Polished side of hood after correction

Rear quarter panel after correction

Hood after polishing

Now some afters! Enjoy!

Thanks for looking!

Very nice. How does that Opti-Bond work out for you?

On a side note, those tinted tails look great on that black.

The Porsche I detailed last Friday had tinted tallights too. I think they make the car look sharp also.

I really like the opti-bond tire gel. It is my current favorite tire dressing.

Nice job on a beautiful car! btw, assuming the tent shelter is yours, where would I find one that can be set up easily (mobile) and what can I expect to pay?

looks great. that one looks like it's lowered on coilovers too! like the tinted tails.

and for the record, that GTI will hit 60 in more like 6.2 vs 7.2. VW always puts conservative numbers out. A trip to the tuner shop and $500 will net you 250hp and 285 ft lb resulting in a mid 5 second spring to 60.

yes I am a fanboi...LOL

Yes it is mine. I set it up and take it down by myself. I got mine from Wally World for $94.00. They are on sale now for $86.

Nice info! I just looked at the VW website and got the specs from there. Yes that GTI has coilovers.

Thanks again Garry. The car looks great.

Anyone in the area looking for a stand up guy to do some detail work, I highly recommend Garry, he worked all day on my car and did a good job.

That's right, it is dropped on Koni Coils and APR tuned, the car pulls hard.

Word on the $500 trip! The day after I got my 08 GTI I went directly to the shop about 20 minutes from my house and got the suspension done with c/o's and the APR Stage 2 upgrade with the stealth option and a full ecu setup....best $ I spent on that car and I spent a lot on it. With leather and navi, and all the bells and whistles, that was one of the most fun cars I ever owned. Also the one that netted me the most tickets in the shortest amount of time. The 'spdplay' tags i had didn't help either
