2004 Vette.

I hate to say it but I was really dreading this showing up today. Been in storage for awhile under a car cover. I had a feeling it was going to be a bit trashed.. Looks like I got my work cut out for me... I'll update this through out the day I guess. Looks like it's going to make for a good write up.

Edit. Ok figured I'd come back to the first post and put it all together for you guys.

This one was a fun one but man chasing the RIDS kicked my but. I figured I was in for one heck of a day when it showed up.

Process was as followed
Wash - Hawaiian shine Super wash from Auto Gem
Clayed - Mequires (white)
Wheels were APD and scrubbed. Usuall I would remove the wheels but My cousin borrowed my Jack so i had no way to do it So i just used every brush in my arsenal and spent some time on the wheels. used Danase wheel assasin for the wells. APD on the tires Shined with Black Onyx Gel
Exhaust tips where 0000 Grade steel wool soaked in glass cleaner.
Wetsanded with 1500 -2000 - 2500

Meduim Compound was Evercoat
Followed by light compound of Sythetic Cutting Cream (still my goto compound) on finish cut wool

Polishing I broke out the Danase line up of swirl abolishers to finally give them a good testing. II followed by I 2 passes each Then i switched up to Megs 82 swirl free polish started on yellow med cut foam then swithced over to white finish pad..

Then I sealed it all up with Danase Paint sealant followed up by 2 coats of Classic wax.

Interior was pretty gavy boat so just a little APC on the jambs and plastic's cleaned up the leather extracted the carpets extracted the convertiable top
Used some spraytech glass cleaner on the glass.... Oyi vey what a day LOL

Can we say "Swirly swirls??"

And scratchy Scratch

Nice exhaust

Rims were a bit neglected

And of course nothing wanted to start off right.. The powerwash broke on my so i had to break out the Foam gun. (hope the Eco police don't see this LOL)

Getting deep into the lug cavaties

Next up was the engine bay. It really wasn't horrible but I APC'd it and scrubbed it down as well.

Next I clayed it. Nothing really to bad here either. I was actually suprised a bit. Around the wells were a little rough but for as dirty as those exhaust were I was sure I'd have a hard time with the rear section..

After Claying I gave her another quick wash and rinse to get it prepped.

After further inspection I figured the best way to attack the numerous deep scratches was to bust out the sand paper and start sanding them away. Started out with 1500 and feather out to 2500.

After the wetsanding was done I got to the taping process. This would be much easier if everything was in a straight line LOL.

No process pics of me compounding but here's a pic of the wheel and pads LOL

My polishing cutting pad "by the paint LOL"

A quick snap of the progress to this point

Had to stop and pose for the "Polishing the door jambs" pic LOL

starting to get some good reflections out of the paint finally

Got the exhaust tips looking good again

Engine bay dressed and left to sit for a bit (got some clean up work along the edges still..

Rims recieved a good coat of Danase's classic wax as well

The only problem with paste wax is you have to apply it by hand and after hours of polishing "by hand" is the last thing I wanted to do. However I felt it was the best option for the situation... So by hand it went

Finally finishing up as the sun was about done for the day as well... I was still able to get a few good reflection shots in the parting light

All in all the thing was a friggin beast to do but I had a lot of fun doing it. The guy was extreamly impressed and booked his Wife's X3 with me next friday as well as the Escelade the following friday after that. I was pretty close to the 10 hour mark like I had guessed. It's not a perfect finish (couple rock chips and such) but I felt I got it fairly close to what could've been done to it. Should be much much easier to maintain now after all this.

Thanks for looking (again) and any tips to better my write ups feel free to add because I still suck at them i know LOL

I'm sore just looking at it. If you're having massive-micromarring with that finicky CC, I've had luck with menzerna p085rd, the lightest pad you have (grey-red) @ lowest rotary speed. Best of luck!!

Re: Teaser* Look what showed up for me today.

You know even though I've successfully done it a couple dozen times so far, it still makes me wince to look at wetsanding in progress...
