Trashed Java Black Pearl Subaru WRX

Yes, it's a Subaru but the paint was trashed and the owner wanted it fixed before he left for basic training. I have never seen this black with gold metal flake before. Apparently, it was only offered for one year by Subaru. Swirls and buffer trails greeted me when it pulled up.

CG CWG by hand
Claybar
M105 with PFW and Makita 9227
Menzerna 106FA with white pad and PC
Optimum Poli-Seal with blue pad and PC
Opti-Seal for my LSP
IPA wipedown on each panel after each polishing step
Tires dressed with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing 2:1
Black Wow applied to all exterior trim

Full Sun before and after's

Before's

You can see the swirls and buffer trails

More swirls and oxidized

After's

First pass with M105, and yes I had marring

After M105 and 106FA

M105/106FA/Poli-Seal

We found Metal flake

Re: Trashed Java Black Pearl Subaru WRX

Gives me hope for my Subie WRX which is a different, but similar color. I wonder if he did his wheels that color, or of Subaru actually offered the same stock wheels in a different color.

I think he painted them himself, they looked good!

I think the M105 was to oharsh but it worked. I didn't feel like playing around with combos.

Re: Trashed Java Black Pearl Subaru WRX

Looks great! That is some cool flake.

105 to 106fa is a big jump down in abrassiveness (is that a word?) Did the 106fa remove all the marring and swirls that 105+PFW left?

Re: Trashed Java Black Pearl Subaru WRX

After 106, I did a full strength wipedown and it was mar free. The M105 with PFW did not mar as bad as I thought.

Re: Trashed Java Black Pearl Subaru WRX

Subie paint is usually not that hard so it is rare that you would have to use a PFW pad with M105. Next time I would try the M105, but with a white pad first. It may have removed all the swirls, but left a better finish then with the PFW. Even when the swirls look bad, always try the white pad first. I am always amazed at how great M105 really is with a white pad.(I am on my 4th gallon of M105 and 3rd of M95, so I have used them quite a bit!)

Poli Seal is also one of my favourite products right now. I apply with a PC and then take it off my misting OCW on my MF which makes it easier to remove any Poli residue and give it even more pop and protection.

The car looks great, you did a great job! Love the flake in that paint! Great work!
