3 GTO's = 1,700 hp and an Escalade

This GTO customer stopped by while I was working on the Cyber Gray ZR1 to take a look at it. He asked me if I could fix the job his body shop did with repainting his GTO. The hood, roof, and top of the trunk lid were the only original paint, everything else was repainted at the body shop, and well....you can see what they did with it. We set up a 2 step correction on it for a couple weeks later. Car is mostly stock, just has some suspension, wheels, and catback. But the LS2 still dishes out 400 hp

This guy had a sweet garage to work in. A little short on length, but carpeted FTW. His wife has a home business with an assistant, and this girl was cute! *the assistant, not the wife lol* She made my time there pretty fun as she'd come out periodically and just shoot the breeze with me Maybe I should have asked her to dinner? But i'm oblivious to these things while I'm working lol. Ok, onto the process and pics

Re: 3 GTO's = 1,700 hp and an Escalade

This is a heads/cam/supercharged w/meth injection GTO with about 600rwhp that came to me from the local forums after seeing the last one. Car was maintained quite well. It had to be done in one day, and couldn't start it till early afternoon. Decided to just do a 1 step with Megs 80 since the GTO clear is pretty soft. It came out pretty nice, about 80-85% correction, and with this color its really tough to see any swirls. I had to hunt them down lol. Forgot interior pics at the end of the day because it was close to midnight and I was tired. Customer provided the before pics and the after pics that are in the sunlight.

Exterior

This last GTO received a monster engine at the same place mine was done. It has a procharged LS7 bored/stroked/forged to 441ci with 8psi and meth injection with a $2k twin disc clutch that was more like an on/off switch lol. Car puts out 690rwhp and 650rwtq I think, on an unfinished tune. They plan on bumping the boost to about 13psi to get around 775-800 at the wheels.

Ok, well this one was just gonna be kinda basic. Owner wants to do a full correction later this year. So for now just something simple. Only have after pictures, but you still might be able to see the heavy swirls and waterspots. The contamination was really heavy. Went through 2 claybars on this one! The pricey CCW wheels were not lookin too good, but the owner said not to bother with them since he was gonna sell them (seemed like the ideal time to polish them...but his choice so...). On to the pics.

Exterior

-Dawn wash
-clayed with Zaino Z18 x2 with Z6 for lubrication
-rewashed with Zaino Z7
-Zaino Z16 on tires
-Zaino AIO on exhaust tips
-2 coats Z5pro with ZFX
-Zaino Z6

Interior

-vacuumed
-windows with Stoners IG
-Zaino Z9 leather cleaner
-Zaino Z10 leather conditioner
-wipedown with Megs Interior Detail spray

And just for kicks, here is the shop owner's 07 Escalade. Spent 5 days doing a 4 step correction on this massive truck, and lost almost all the pics (hardrive crash a while back). Owner snapped 2 pics for me though.

Thank you! It WAS!

I did this before I discovered Menzerna stuff, so it could have been easier.

The paint was VERY hard. Corvette hard.
-Megs 83 x2 with burgundy cutting pad
-Megs 80 with yellow polishing pad
-Megs 82 with finishing pad

There is just so much surface area on this thing.... And unlike the Avalance, all the plastic panels are painted, and we polished every square inch of it. They were shorter days though...not like 12-14 hour days that most of us do. This one I only did about 8hrs a day.

LSP was Z5pro x3 and Z6

Good luck Bryan! Its a lot of work. Though if I had to do it again, it would be significantly easier. I think Megs 105, SIP, and 106fa would be a good combo for it. Is the one you're doing, black? I think you'll do fine, I have faith in you!

Two things:
1. pics of the assistant
2. engine pics of the 3rd GTO

Very nice love the GTO's. The 3rd one is almost a HSV W427 now.

LOL. Taking a pic of her woulda been so obvious, and I thought that might be crossing a line. I'd give her an 8 though.

Shoulda taken some pics of the 3rd GTO's motor....but for some reason that escapes me now, I didn't. Sorry man.
