Presidential Detailed: 490WHP 03 COBRA

I got a call this Thursday from Bobby, the owner of SR Performance saying he has a car he wants a black Cobra detailed before the weekend. the front bumper had just been repainted and didnt match the rest of the car now. I told him that since I would be starting Friday that I probably wouldnt be finished until Saturday but the car was going to a show Saturday morning. The owner of the car agreed to just go head on with the detail and he just wont take it to the show. The car looked good but had some serious water etching and some RIDS throughout. I was able to remove about 95% of the defects in the time I was given. Somehow I managed to get the entire car done in 12 hours straight through! The car looks absolutely incredible now, and the owner was blown away not only by how the car looked but that I was also able to finish it for him in time for his car show! Needless to say, he is now sending me his Lincoln Blackwood truck!

Since I went through the job as quickly as I did, I failed to capture too many photos. So here is what I got!

This is what I would be dealing with..

After trying several lighter cutting pads, I ended up with a yellow solo wool pad and M105 to get some of the etching out using the KBRM.

After compounding..

After M105/M205..

Rear Fender.

50/50

About half way through the polishing process..

The wheels needed a light polish to get them looking good again..

And finished..I was in a rush to get the car out for the customer so that he could make it to the show on time so the after pics are limited..no sun today..

The shop I performed the work at has horrible hard water, so we drove down to a nearby car wash for a final rinse down. The guys at the jiffy lube next door were kind enough to let us use their power to blow dry the car before I sent the customer off to the show!

The owner stopped by the shop I was working at today to show me these..he placed 1ST in the "stock" 1994-2004 Ford Class.

Haha nice job!

Speaking of mustangs. I was at NTB getting an alignment from my buddy. I was sitting down and he comes in to get me. Behold, there sits a turbo SVT Stang that is sitting on 18lbs of boost made like 7xxwhp... Going for 24lbs of boost and 900whp this Summer....

Said the dude had 27k in the car... Cause he had to swap out a lot of factory parts to '01 parts to fit all the turbo stuff I guess....

Nice! I see you are using the G110 with the new 205?
What are your thoughts on that process?

Wow alot accomplished in a short time, I would have needed two days for that one. Quick two questions what is the bucket for and no CR Spotless? that would have saved you in this instance, but great save in the crunch!!.

The owner was blown away, and even more blown away when it was ready for him the next morning to go straight to his show(I told him the night before it probably wouldnt happen, but i made it happen. )

Im still in the air with M205 at the moment, I just started using it and so far I find it to be VERY good at removing wool or stiff foam marring, and finishes down pretty well, ALMOST LSP ready. But so far I have also found that I have still been reaching for UF..Im going to play around some more still and see if I can get even better results out of 205.

Oh man, you called me out on my bucket...I have been using it for a seat while polishing the sides... I need to get a roller chair I know..

And you are correct, no CR spotless. Another thing on my immediate list of things to buy. Although Im sure the shop water will eat up those filters in no time! Cost of doing business though..

Nice work Billy!

So did you follow up with UF on this one or were you happy with M205 on the finishing step?
