2009 ZR1 correction and prep

I did this ZR1 back in late December, and thought I'd share it with you guys.

This is a car I have been looking forward to doing for a very long time, as I'm a big corvette fan. It finally showed up and I got to work on it! Unfortunately....someone decided to buff the hood before it showed up at the dealer. I think a blind man could have buffed it better. Deep swirls, buffer trails, and holograms all over it. The rest of the car was covered in hard water spots. With some work though, it all came out and the car is perfect.

I gotta tell you, this thing is LOW! It took 4 of us to get it into the wash bay. There is a 2 1/2" speedbump entrance to the wash bay and pulling the car in was terrifying. With it turned sharply to the left we had LESS than 1/4" clearance on the carbon fiber gfx on the side! But we got it in and out safely.

I had a great time with this car. I think I put about 14 hours into it. I had probably 20 people come by to watch me work on it. The sales guys were making their calls letting people know it was here, so people were coming in all day to look at it. A few asked me to start it up and rev it, but that was a liberty I wasn't gonna take lol.

I feel very privileged to have done this car. Only two people were allowed to even sit in the car and to drive it. I was very happy to be one of them. I didn't get to drive it far, but I did get to drive it! And I also had the task of moving this thing through the main showroom and then into the Corvette showroom and park it 2 inches away from the glass wall. Can you say hair-raising?!?

Ok, onto the process....

-Washed with Zaino Z7 car wash
-Clayed with Zaino Z18 claybar
-Leather cleansed/conditioned with Zaino Z9/Z10
-Makita Rotary with LC orange pad - Menzerna SIP
-Makita Rotary with LC white pad - Menzerna SIP
-Porter Cable with Lake Country blue pad - Menzerna FPII
-IPA wipedown x2
-2 coats of Zaino Z5pro with ZFX
-1 coat of Zaino Clear Seal
-Final wipedown with Zaino Z8 Grand Finale
-Zaino Z18 on tires

What we started with:

*Note: I wasn't able to get any 50/50 shots or after shots following the correction unfortunately. One of my 500w bulbs burst and actually caught fire inside the light's housing. After that, the other one wouldn't work either. I was very lucky that the overhead light was enough to highlight the imperfections!*

All finished!!!

Thanks for lookin!
