Headlight Reconditioning Pics

So for that process above, what are you guys charging? I was thinking anywhere from 50-75 bucks depending on size and severity! took me 45 min with a process of 1500 dry, 1500 wet, 3000 wet, 105pfw/1700, plastiXwhite/1200

Re: Headlight Reconditioning Pics

Very nice. Alot of other people seem to use 4, sometimes more stages of sandpaper. 2 types is impressive.

I'd charge 100.00 bucks. You cant even get a single new headlight for twice the amount. People would gladly pay 50.00 a headlight for those results and you'll be alot happier getting paid 100.00.

Re: Headlight Reconditioning Pics

Has anyone tried the Meguiar's Headlight Restoration kit to determine if the time and results are comparable?

Re: Headlight Reconditioning Pics

I am just going out on a limb here and say that is pretty light oxidation with what seems to be no pitting. Next time I would try just the PlastX on a pad, and see where that leaves you. It is hard to tell from the pictures put something to consider next time. I feel like sometimes people here use the minigun for a job a slingshot will do. Don't forget to seal them up and I like a layer of wax on there as. That will add a protection barrier from the oxidation from returning.

Re: Headlight Reconditioning Pics

I'd be hard pressed to think you couldn't just replace them for about $150 out the door. I'd definatly look into your local suppliers to see what actual replacement cost is and then adjust your price accordingly to make sure the customer is still getting a deal. I know some capsules are friggin insanely expensive (over $200/ea.) and then others I've seen brand new out the door for under $50/ea Why pay to have them restored when you can replace them brand new for half the cost? I mean it takes on average about 5- 10 minutes to replace them. Pending on what's in their way. But it's a real simple process usually. And I would also say that because replacement cost vary so much from car to car that restoration cost would probably be different pending on which car it is.
