Audis, VWs and a Mercedes

2002 Audi A6. Regular customer, I see it 2-3 times a year. The owner does a nice job keeping it up, so Optimum Compound via G110 using a yellow Meguiars polishing pad followed by Clearkote's Pink Moose (plus my 3rd polish I add into it), also with a yellow Meguiars pad cleaned up the paint nicely. Followed with Carnauba Moose.

I also detailed his wife's 2006 Mercedes ML350 and with this one, the focus is on the interior. Since the paint is still remarkably swirl free, I just put on two coats of Optimum Opti-Seal.

Re: Audis, VWs and a Mercedes

2003 Audi A6, the owner is the brother of the A6 posted above. Really needs some serious deep polishing but he wasn't interested in spending that kind of money on a daily driver. Optimum Compound via G110 using a Meguiars yellow polishing pad, Optimum Finish using a blue Swirlbuster finishing pad and Meguiars NXT2 to seal in the paint. Why NXT2? Because it looks amazing on blue metallic paint.

Re: Audis, VWs and a Mercedes

2008 Audi TT. Detailed it back in July. Since then, the owner has gone through a divorce and from hand washing it himself to having it washed at a local tunnel wash. Had minor cobwebbing but nothing real deep. Started off with the G110 using Meguiars #105 cut about 30% with Optimum Compound II to extend the work time using a yellow Meguiars polishing pad. I followed with OC II and another yellow Meguiars polishing pad. Final polishing step was Optimum Poli-Seal using a white LC polishing pad. Paint was finished (at owner's request, as in "use the same stuff you did the last time, it is still beading") with Carnauba Moose.

A couple befores:

#105/OC II

After Poli-Seal

Polished and waxed

Re: Audis, VWs and a Mercedes

2007 Volkswagen Beetle. Nothing major, I polished it in November and still was in decent shape. Just put on a couple coats of Opti-Seal.

==============

I've detailed this 2003 VW Passat a couple times, last polished in April of last year if I remember right. The owner appears to be doing a really nice job washing it but unfortuntely, the dealer washed it too and jacked up the hood. Completely forgot to get befores.

The hood and trunk lid took a couple passes with #105 with a yellow Meguiars polishing pad via rotary at 1200-1000 rpms. I followed with #105 using the G110 and KB method (as best I understand it) by misting the sections with water after the first pass and BAM! it took out all the holograms from #105/rotary. I then followed with #105/OC II as I did with the Audi TT over the entire car, then OCII and Poli-Seal. I also used Carnauba Moose to seal the paint. The car is 90-95% swirl free at this point. Really needs time and rotary to bring it close to 100% but the owner drives the car daily and lives at an apartment so in this case it probably isn't worth him spending the extra money. He is also considering having the hood reshot due to stone chips and some RIDS and the rear bumper has a minor scrape. Anyway, for a 6 year old daily driven black car, I think it looks quite good.

The G110 definitely has more power than the PC, about the same as the UDM with a bet less vibration. However, it so far has been significantly more unreliable than the PC or UDM. I am on my 3rd one. First one lasted 1 1/2 details, second one 10-12. No problems exchanging them (I have a local Meguiars pro distributor) but it is a pain when you lose the machine in the middle of a job. The current one I have sounds noticably better than the first two (both had a "ratchety" sound) so hopefully this one holds up.

[Insert usual regarding ScottWax's work here...]

ScottWax- The big thing I noticed was that you did so much work with the G110 as opposed to doing them all via rotary

Re: Audis, VWs and a Mercedes

Great work on all the cars Scott. I recently started adding some OC II or OHC to my 105 to give it some more work time and dust less. Works great. Once again, great job.
