A tale of a JET BLACK BMW Coupe Perfected by Got_Leather

This car came from the Richmond area which is an hour south of me and the owner dropped it off on a Sunday afternoon, and picked up the following Sunday. He allowed me plenty of time to work on his car since both of our schedules were hectic. The week prior to his appointment he had the dealership do some warranty work on his car and specifically told them not to wash it, but of course they did.

Upon arrival the owner and I went over the car and he pointed out a few areas that had some deeper scratches that received some wet sanding to fully remove.

This car belongs to member ZedHead. Thanks again Geoff.

After spending time with the owner, talking cars and such (first time I actually met him in person) I told him about the process I would need to take after seeing the car in person and we agreed on perfection. He wanted to take his car to another level and wanted to see its true potential.

During the detail, I had my guy come over and tint the windows. We decided on 35% all the way around.

Process was as following -

-Wash via Dawn and 2BM to remove any protection the car previously had
-Clay
-The RIDS (random isolated deep scratches) received 3M 1500 Wetordry followed by Meguiars Unigirt 3000 wet sanding paper.
-Meguiars M105 via Purple Foam Wool @ 1400 RPM's
-Menzerna Super Intensive Polish via White Lake Country Pad @ 1400 RPM's
-Menzerna 106FA Nano Polish via Black Lake Country Pad @ 1200 RPM's, then dropped the speed down to 900 RPM's to finish out.
-91% IPA wipe down
-Chemical Guyz EZ Creme Glaze via Black Lake Country Pad @ speed 6 on PC
-Optimum Opti-Seal x2 on all painted surfaces and 1x on glass, lights, etc.
-Optimum Car Wax v2

-Wheels received Optimum Poli-Seal.

THANKS TO ERIC (Howareb) for helping and allowing the use of HIS shop

Here is what the car looked like upon arrival

After doing a test section, this is what I had.

Here is another section where I used the flash to see more in depth what I was working with.

After doing the above process

I then took off the front license plate to assure every inch of the paint was corrected.

Here is yours truly working in the SIP.

Here is the window tint being applied in the shop.

The next picture is after I pulled into the sun to see the results. I had to take these pictures quickly as the sun was in and out all day. The marks you see are just me not removing the polish. But the finish I got was amazing.

Working in the Menz 106FA

All door jambs received a wash/clay/polish/seal. Here is the before/during/after

The engine was cleaned using APC and then dressed with a water based dressing. I was really happy with the way it came out.

Now finally a bunch of after pictures, enjoy.

Don't mind some of the windows, I had yet to wipe them down.

Exhaust tips. I used the new Optimum Metal Polish.

Before

After

The owner picked up the car that Sunday around 11am and it was a slight drizzle. I was really disappointed because I wanted some more pictures, but these pictures turned out better than I thought.

Lastly, my favorite picture.

Thanks all,
DJ

That front fender was the worse of the orange peel. If it wasn't for that, the picture would be awesome.

DJ...great work man! That's the car you were talking to me about on photography, right? It looks like it turned out tremendous, and I'm sure the owner was very happy.
