1966 Chevy NOVA wagon - 30 pics

Alright, here is the deal with this awesome '66 NOVA WAGON:
lack of gloss, HEAVY scratches and swirling all over, slight oxidation, heavy bonded contaminants, oxidized chrome, etc...you name it, this car had it!

I knew I ONLY had two days with this car, so I had to figure out a game plan to accomplish the best results in the time window (I could have taken the car to 99% with about 4-5 days of work); that took over an hour to figure some sort of process out! I tried numerous combos on different sections of the car to test. I ended up with a combo that is somewhat backwards, but produced the best results!

Products:
megs 105
megs 83
megs 80
megs last touch
megs blue clay
megs glass cleaner
megs 34 final inspection
ONR
exceldetail WW towels
costco MF towels
one grand chrome polish
LC pads - PFW, orange, white, black
Danase Wet Glaze
wolfgang FUZION - darn good wax IMO!
PC
hitachi rotary

Process:
I had to find some combo that would leave the paint smooth to the touch, remove the massive amounts of defects the fastest while cleaning up the paint at the same time, leaving me the chance to obtain the most gloss possible...in TWO DAYS!

I ended up with a process that was a little backwards so to speak!
ONR
clay
megs 34 wipe down
pfw/83/1200
5.5" orange/105/PC 6
5.5" white/80/pc 6
blue/DWG/pc 5
Fuzion by hand via foam applicator
chrome cleaned by hand with a cut up megs polishing pad and one grand chrome polish

Here are the befores (aka the damage)

AND HERE ARE THE AFTERS (16 hours later - 95% cleaned up)

AND THE BEST COMMENT i HAVE RECEIVED YET...."MY TWO OLDER CARS WITH WORSE PAINT JOBS LOOK BETTER THAN THE REST OF THE LAMBOS, BENTLEY'S AND THE REST OF THE CARS!"

Look for this car to be in DUB magazine in the near future!!!

Only in CA, huh? Around here that car would have been a pile of rust 3 decades ago.

Very nice work ! I'll bet that compliment he gave you about the Lambos made you feel like a million bucks, huh ? The car looks great, but he needs to get some nice rims for that thing... those "spare tires" look hideous.

Re: 1966 Chevy NOVA wagon - 30 pics

toyotaguy- OMG, only two days for *that* transformation?!?

I kept moving back and forth between the "before" and "after" pics, that was just a great job.

That "backwards" combo makes sense once you think of it, great idea you had there

Really cool vehicle too...my dogs would simply *love* it (OK, I'll admit I'd lose a lot of the window tint).
